30 Day Challenges,  Fashion

30 Days of Dresses: Day One.

It’s time to start 30 Days of Dresses! I meant to start mine on Saturday, but then Mr. Owl and I went on a hike. And I haven’t mastered the art of hiking in a dress. (There was snow at the top. We slid on the way down.) So I started yesterday instead.

Fun fact: the last time I remember wearing this dress, it was summer. And I had a tan. I miss summer. I want it to come back.

If any of you want to join my friend Sarah and I, please do! I got a lot of comments (that I have yet to reply to, shame on me!) about it, and I’ll answer the questions here: yes, it’s okay if you can only do it for half a day, and any sort of traditional garb is fantastic (I so want to see those!), and if you can only do it for a week, that’s fine too! It’s just a fun challenge to get you to dress up in something you might not wear all the time (I wear skirts almost every day, but I am at a loss as to how to style dresses sometimes), or to dress up every day for a week, or to wear the dresses you haven’t seen for months in the back of your closet. 😉

So if you want to join in, you can share the link to your blog post on any of my 30 Days of Dresses posts, or go to my Facebook page and link there, or if you don’t have a blog you can post the photo to my page or tag me in it to share. At the end of my 30 days, I might try to gather up all the links and pictures of everyone who joined in and share you all in a post so that we can all see how we did!

Unfortunately, due to time-constriction and the fact that I don’t like to be seen while we’re taking pictures, Mr. Owl and I didn’t get very many pictures of this dress, and the three we got of me standing didn’t work out very well. This location is the back steps to my house, where we finally settled because my cousins were over and it was the only nice spot we could take good pictures without being seen.

It’s funny, I don’t mind if there are random strangers wandering past when Mr. Owl is taking pictures of me, but if it’s family that could see me, I get shy.

These shoes have survived a lot. They’ve been through fields of spiders, been covered in mud, traversed over shells and rocks and barnacles and bricks, and there’s only one little scratch that isn’t even noticeable. I love them.

So, if you want to join Sarah and me in our 30 Days of Dresses, hop to it! For any day that I don’t blog a dress (such as the weekends), you can check my Facebook page or this album. I’ll be posting all 30 dresses on Facebook, but only the really good ones will make it to my blog. 😉

Also, check out 14 Shades of Grey’s first 30-Days (ish) dress. It’s adorable!

I hope you all have a fantastic Monday!

Like I’ve said before, amazing location and a wonderful belt! I’m just gathering up my courage whether or not to join you in this challenge. Believe me, I’m dying to, but I’m not very photogenic, you see.
    Some words of motivation?

    I’ll try, surely.
    Love,
    Snigdha

Oh, please do! You know, it’s always the pictures I like the least of myself that everyone else loves, so you’re probably not as un-photogenic as you think you are. 😉 I bet you look lovely. But you can also play around with different angles (such as… I generally find it’s more photogenic for me to angle my face slightly to the left or right in pictures) and find an angle that you like best.

Hi! YEAH! The project has just begun! It’s cool, although I don’t think I could make it, especially because I am not a dress girl. Anyway, these pictures are super adorable and the location is lovely! The dress is so cute 🙂 And the shoes do have a story! Hope you’ll have them for a long long time 😛 Oh and have I ever told you you have a BREATHTAKING smile? Because you do 😛

😀 I’m glad you like it! And I thought about saying if you’re not a dress girl, you could try a week of dresses instead, but y’know. I sorta forgot.
Thank you, love! You’re so sweet!

I checked the other post to see the dress in full, and I must say, I like it with the cardigan better! Not that it doesn’t look good by itself, but it just goes so naturally with the cardigan. And the pop of red from the shoes is great too.

I think I agree with you. The top of the dress is actually kind of a weird fit, so I might tailor it in and then I’d like it better on its own. Because I really love the buttons.

I’m tempted to join but I’m so terrible at taking photos that I don’t know if I would actually last. 🙂 We’ll see! I’m excited to see your photos though.

It’s definitely much easier to take pictures now that I have Mr. Owl to take them for me. And hey, even if you don’t take pictures, you could still join! Or take detail shots, or just take pictures of the dress on its hangar. 😀

I’m not really a dress girl either (I’m more of the jeans and a hoodie type), but the dresses I do have I absolutely love! I just … never wear them… So, I have decided to join you in this challenge with my seven dresses. I’ll try to take pictures and send them to you. I started on Saturday and it has been quite an adventure! My campus is VERY windy! I haven’t had any scadalous moments yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed! XD

    • Mara

Yay! I’m glad! I hope to see your results.
Ah, windy days and dresses can be so awkward! Somehow, I always manage to wear really lightweight dresses on days that get super windy. I ought to invest in little tiny weights to put in the hem of my skirts so they stay down! 😀

I love the skirt on this dress. It looks really great the way you styled it here. I remebered reading about ‘challenge’ but I haven’t really started participating yet. I may have to find some time to play along. Although I don’t have 30 days worth of dresses 🙂

I’m so excited to see all your dress outfits! This one is super pretty with the polka dot cardigan layered over it. I’m also loving the contrast in colors with your red shoes and the green dress.
