30 Day Challenges,  Fashion

A sunny afternoon.

I have sort of lost where I was in the 30×30, but I think this was day 19. There have been several “break” days in the last week or so, and I really have no idea which day is next. Oh, well. I’m still grabbing clothes from the chosen 30, although I’ve switched some stuff out (aka, a sweater for this tank top) and I’ve forgotten which clothes were actually IN the 30 as I tend to not put things  away right away.

This skirt is definitely one of my favorites that I had sort of forgotten about. I don’t know how I could forget about it, seeing as it’s one of the brightest skirts I own, but I just hadn’t been grabbing it to wear and I’m not sure why. I’m glad I decided to stick it in my 30 items, because I adore it! Ah, bright colors!

So far with the 30×30, I’ve learned that I really need to start buying a sort of color scheme for my closet, because my clothes are just all over the place. I should start employing that rule that if I can’t visualize at least five outfits with an item I’d like to buy and the clothes I already have, I can’t buy it.

I think I might start building seasonal wardrobes; it appeals to my (somewhat ignored) sense of organization. I’d love to have different color-schemes for each season’s wardrobe, so that I have more set guidelines as to what I should/can buy… but I’m not restricted to the same colors year-round.

Plus, I’ve already got seasonal skirts–  I have several wool skirts that definitely aren’t meant for spring or summer, and some of my lighter skirts probably won’t keep me as warm through the winter.

What do you all think? Would you/do you have a seasonal wardrobe? Do you notice yourself wearing certain colors in certain seasons? I’ve noticed I tend to gravitate towards more reds and purples and grays in the winter, and blues and whites in the spring. And just bright colors in the summer.

That skirt is great. It looks good on you.

I love your hair! I have to get my brother to make something like that out of mine.

Unfortunately, I am completely disorganized when it comes to my wardrobe. I tend to categorize all clothes I see into three categories: the ones I hate, the ones I love and neutral. Since most clothes I see are either in the first or the third group, I end up buying whatever I find that I actually like. Which doesn’t always match my existing wardrobe.
In the end, I have a lot of clothes, and no knowledge on how to put them together into an outfit.

And that’s why I’m here, hoping that some of your fashion sense will rub off on me. 😀

    Have a great Thursday!

Oy, I could never limit my colours each season – I’m a bit of a colour fanatic.  The whole neon thing thats huge right now is pretty much the best thing to ever happen to me 🙂

First thing first: you look adorable.

Just the other day I said that I don’t have a lot of spring/summer color in my wardrobe, because I tend to navigate towards deeper tones which are not always appropriate in the summer. I think having a versatile wardrobe is important, but a seasonal one is great too – especially here in Hanoi, when it’s so hot and humid in the summer but can get quite cold in the winter, so a seasonal wardrobe is kind of a must.

Oh my gosh Mara, you look absolutely adorable! I love the braids in your hair! I really need to get to learn how to braid better… I suck at it! Also, I love this outfit, so simple yet wonderful! I adore this skirt.
