Gingham prints and new hair

20130617-162925.jpg
I’m back to dark hair again after two long weeks of hating my roots. I’m too cheap to get my hair touched up every month for $40, so it’s back to my normal $3.99 box dye and presto!

But honestly, although I had fun with blonde hair, it made me realize how much more I LOVE being a brunette. Dark hair is my thing.

In other news, we are FINALLY getting Internet at our house on Wednesday! No more blogging from my phone! Yay!

And one of these days I’ll actually take real outfit pictures in this dress and these heels. I love them.

I hope you are all having a happy Monday! It’s 80 degrees here. So nice!

Your nails look incredible! Did you get them done, or do them yourself? Love your hair dark by the way! Thank you for my comments <3 Alex

That’s awesome! Did they stay on pretty well for you? I’ve always wanted to try those but it makes me nervous that they won’t last for even a day.

They would have if I didn’t pick at them so much. They were pre-glued (aka, really strong tape, basically), so I’d recommend getting nails that you glue yourself with the nail glue, because those will stay on for about a week. Totally worth it! But these came off the day I put htem on simply because I fiddled with them. I don’t like wearing fake nails, I can’t type or anything! If I hadn’t pried them so much, I think they would have lasted for a couple of days.

    YAY! LOVE that dress!

In my humble opinion, I think you look healthier as a brunette. Maybe you looked different in real life, but in the photos, you looked a little washed out as a blond. (Says the woman who hasn’t seen her “natural” hair color in 2 decades. Not throwing stones!!! LOL) 😉 I have VERY pale skin and blue eyes. Darker extremes in hair color tend to work better with my light skin, for example, my “natural” hair color was so dark, it was almost a mahogany color. I’ve tried to go a lighter shade of brown, but I just looked “mousey.” Blond is too light for my skin, though my aunt tried going pure white and she looked amazing. Right now, I’m on a red head faze, more auburn than carrot. If you like going dark, and you want to try a deep auburn, try L’Oreal’s Feria, #56, Brilliant Bordeaux. Only auburn hair color I’ve ever used from a box that CONSISTENTLY covers both dark hair and grey and doesn’t seem to fade out. I’m about 50/50 grey underneath it all (half grey roots, half dark roots) but this particular box covers both extremes the same shade. That’s huge! Here’s the link on Amazon, but you should be able to find it at any drug store:

Take Care! Love reading your posts. 🙂

I agree, Juli! Dark hair compliments my complexion MUCH better than blonde, but it was lots of fun to experement!
I wish I would have gone red for a short while, just for fun, but I was going to a wedding the day I dyed my hair and I didn’t want it to be a disaster! Maybe somedy in the future I’ll try it once this dark dye grows out! That red sounds awesome!

I agree that dark hair is your thing. Your features just pop more with dark hair. Still, it was fun to experiment, wasn’t it?
    Those shoes are amazing btw!

    • Eccentric Owl

I agree, too. It was fun to experement, but dark hair is definitely my favorite!
Aren’t they? I love these shoes so much. I just want to wear them all the time!

Nice nails! I just dyed my hair dark, it was supposed to be dark brown but it’s pretty much black. It’s fun though =p

I LOVE your nails, outfit, everything! Your hair looks amazing, and I have to say, I really like it dark. Your skin looks so even and beautiful. 🙂 I think the blonde hair might wash out your features a bit now that I see how gorgeous you are with your dark hair!! I love this post! 🙂

Thank you, Tia! I love this outfit, too. It’s one of my absolute favorites! And I agree, the blonde does wash me out a bit; that’s inevitable seeing as how I’m naturally very dark haired.

  • Avra-Sha Faohla

I’ve always thought that though you look good in other colors, dark hair does suit you best. So I’m glad to see you back to dark! Also, those nails are awesome.

I’m amused with how short-lived your hair change was, but I can totally sympathize with being too cheap to want to keep up with roots. I’m really lazy about mine, partially because of cost and partly because… meh. Haha.

    • Eccentric Owl

I know, right? I was partially sad to let it go, since I went through all the trouble to get blond-ified, but I’m too cheap and impatient and… yeah. I tend to only keep non-dark colors for two months at the most before I get tired of it and go back to my normal color. Hehe.

  • Selective Potential

This outfit is incredibly gorgeous – absolutely LOVE the dress! And your dark hair is so pretty. I think I’m going to go ombre/blonde for the summer (soon!) and then back to dark in winter. It’s fun to switch it up once in a while, and it’s been forever since I have! xo

My goodness, that dress is just perfect! Gingham is one of my favorite prints. Absolutely love the pin-up look on you. You look so pretty, and your hair color looks great! Sent you an e-mail about the feature a few days ago btw. Hope you got it. So excited to have found your blog. Have a good one dear.

    • Eccentric Owl

Thank you, Jessica! I love this dress so much; my husband bought it for me. Yes, I did get it, but I have been having issues with my email and I lost the list of questions I tried to send! I’m going to try to get them to you tonight or tomorrow.
