Take Me Out to the Ball Game

1  On Sunday, Mr. Owl and I got to go to the Rainiers’ game with my work (well, we were the only two that were available to go other than my dad, and he didn’t want to go alone!) It was SO much fun… even though we lost. Whatever. I love going to baseball or football games; I think it stems from growing up with three brothers who all played both sports, and going to home games in our small town, and rooting for them, goofing off in the bleachers with my friends, buying candy we didn’t need with what little money we could scrounge up…

Ah, memories. 2  This game was different from others I’ve been to, though, because we got to stay in one of the suites and sit in box seats. I have to admit, I prefer the cheap seats! I love sitting on the bleachers (or what they now have– a big grass area you can spread your blanket on) and being close to the field. Sitting way high up in the box seats just isn’t the same!PicMonkey Collage 1 Nevertheless, we had fun! As you can see, I got to pose with the mascot (he came up to the suite, scared the crap out of one little girl unintentionally, and was a good sport about everything!). We also got garlic fries. To me, it’s a must that you get stadium food while at a sports game! I mean, you just have to!

5  And the girls at the food court all cooed over my baby belly. As did most of the other women who were in the suite with us.

So, I can finally reveal the really huge and exciting news that I’ve been holding in for a few weeks now: today is my very last day working in the office! It’s a bittersweet feeling; I will definitely miss my co-worker, because she is just a blast to work with and the best person to discuss drama and gossip with. Plus, our inside jokes are hilarious.

But it’s also such an exciting blessing: after today, I will officially be working part-time from home doing editorial work. I got the job completely by surprise, after I wrote about a particularly hard day at work. One of my readers (thank you!) knew that her mom’s work was looking for a part-time at home position, and had her read the post. The very next morning, after I had hit rock bottom at work (almost throwing up in the dirty bathroom, emotional breakdown), I got an email asking if I was interested in the position!

It’s been amazing getting to know the people I’ll be working with, and I cannot WAIT to get started! Editorial work is right up my alley, working from home is absolutely a dream come true, and it’s very flexible when I have to work (whenever I can, really, so long as I get my hours in every day!) so I won’t have to worry about actually going somewhere for work and not having that time at home once the baby is here!

I am feeling so blessed right now. But I have to leave for my last day of work!

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

And, P.S. Happy Birthday to my favorite co-worker/manager ever, Patricia. I’m sad that my last day is also your birthday, and I’ll REALLY miss you!

First of all, go baseball! I love love love going to baseball games. It’s a huge part of my childhood because my aunts would always take us and we’d get overpriced nachos and hotdogs 🙂 So many good memories. I’m glad you guys had fun, you both (all three actually ;)) look adorable!

That’s so exciting about the new job! Congrats girl!!

Ah, fun! I hope they win. Especially since the Rainiers lost… it’s never as fun to go to a game where the home team just eats it.

Congrats on the new job! And I agree with you about the seat – I’ve never been to any game (sports, totally not my thing) but from all the concerts I’ve been to, the box seat is never as fun as down among the crowd.

Sports aren’t my thing on TV, but going to a game I think… it’s probably just the being in the crowd, with friends, eating the delicious stadium food, you know. Memory making stuff. Hehe.

Yes, the cheap seats are better! We go on Aug 30. God has blessed you with a job that you can do at home! I am so excited for you and this new chapter in our lives.

I love your outfit, and it sounds like you had so much fun at the game! Garlic fries sound so yummy, I don’t think we have those at our stadium, I may have to recreate those at home sometime 🙂 Congrats on your new job, it’s really great that you won’t be missing out on any baby time!

I know, right? It was seriously the biggest surprise and has been just… mind blowing. I still can’t believe it’s happening! I definitely cried when I read that first email. Haha! Partially because I was tired, but partially because… you know, it was amazing.
Eh, box seats aren’t as cool as they sound! They’re basically just normal seats set really high up. Although the suite had couches and TV and amazing nachos… so that was good. Ha!

Congratulations on your new job. It sounds amazing!
I currently work 60 hour weeks and I’m wondering how I will cope once the baby comes in January. X

      Thank you, Rubee!
Ah, I can’t imagine working that many hours a week! I only worked 24 at the office, and that was tiring enough! I hope you find something to help when the baby comes!
