    Makeup Look: 1960’s Twiggy

Ever since I’ve sort of made the commitment to more retro styles, I’ve realized a very important thing: it all starts with your head. Whether it’s a hat, makeup, earrings, whatever, I’ve noticed that in order for someone to look totally ensconced in a look, their head has to match what they’re wearing. And I love this. It means I get to do all sorts of fun makeup looks. Today, I want to show you how to do an easy 1960’s mod makeup, inspired by (or totally copying) this picture of Twiggy. As with all of my makeup looks, I should probably  mention I only know what I’ve taught myself…

Makeup routine, product reviews, and plum smokey eyes

I haven’t done a makeup tutorial in YEARS. Now, I’ve been trying to film one, but I am now so used to sitting still and posing that I’ve lost my knack for talking to the camera. So instead, I’ll do photographic tutorials. This one is my daily makeup routine plus a little extra, and should only take you about 15 minutes, if that! There will also be product reviews for a few of the items I use, in case any of you are looking for good affordable makeup.  I hope you all enjoy! Start out with a clean, moisturized face. Moisturizer is especially important before foundation if you are dry-skinned…

    Updated skincare regimen

After a long stint of using BeautyMint – which I still would highly recommend if you want an easy, efficient skincare set that you don’t have to think about – I’ve decided to branch out and try some different products. As much as I like BeautyMint products, I did have a problem with how unevenly the products ran out. Without fail, the cleanser always ran out long before anything else. I can be a somewhat sporadic skincare user, but I did use everything (except the SPF) pretty equally. And at the moment, I have in my stock of unopened BeautyMint products: 1 cleanser, 2 moisturizers, 4 replenishing serums, 4 eye…

Daily makeup adjustments as a blonde

So once I went blonde, I immediately realized I would have to make a few adjustments to my makeup routine. With dark hair, I could play up the contrast of pink cheeks and blue-red lipstick with my pale skin. But going blonde brought out the natural redness in my skin. That redness I didn’t want. As well, my eyebrows are significantly darker than my hair now, which can be tricky to pull off unless you have the right makeup. My old makeup consisted of bright pink blush, black eyeliner, and lots of dark browns and blacks for shadows. This doesn’t work well for me as a blonde because the natural…

Makeup: Day and Night, with one Palette (and some lipstick)

So the lovely people over at BA Star sent me this fun little makeup palette, and since I really miss the days when I did makeup looks, I thought I’d have some fun. I got two looks out of it, but you can definitely get more! The first is a daytime, work-friendly look, and the second is a party-time look (or a look for whenever you want some glitter in your life. Which is always. Right?) For the daytime look, I used the three non-glitter shadows to create a nice subtle smoky eye. I really love those three shadows– they’re so smooth and saturated, and only creased a teeny bit throughout the day! I’d…
