Boho Maternity Wear and a Thrift Haul

I mentioned it on Instagram, but if you don’t have Instagram… now you know: I went through with it and cut my hair. On the day I wrote the blog post, because my husband told me I should just do it, and I’m SO glad I did! My hair looks and feels so much thicker and healthier now that all of the dead and damaged ends are gone, and I feel so much more retro! I even feel like I can still be a hippie even though I’ve got shorter hair. Also, I don’t have to brush it very much. And that’s a huge plus. You guys can file this…

    Pink polka-dots and a headscarf

When I was a little girl, I remember for some reason I took a dislike to pink. Possibly because of my stubborn I-want-to-be-different-than-you determination and the fact that most of my little girl friends loved pink. Perhaps because as a little girl, I was expected to like pink and I had a contradictory nature. Or, it could have been that pink usually came in dusty pastels or dusky roses, and I preferred bright, happy, punchy colors. Simplicity

I spent most of the day today in my underclothes, being sticky and hot, split between finishing Catching Fire and cleaning the upstairs of our house. And, to be honest, I only got dressed properly because we had to leave the house. Especially on these last hot and especially humid (for Washington) days of summer. I’m SO excited for fall– for tights, pumpkin pie,…

    Oh Baby…

Well, we know what the baby is! If you’re an Instagrammer, you already know the gender since I’m terrible at keeping secrets and I’ve already revealed it there. But if you’re not, then surprise! The tally is: 27 for a Boy, 26 for a Girl, so far as I can count via Facebook, blog, and Instagram (before I revealed it). Just within the family, the vote was 14 for a boy and 12 for a girl. I love how close it was with the guesses! Hehe, but, of course, someone always loses. And…  Surprise! Mr. Owl and I both were thinking it was a girl for the longest time, more…

Green Florals and a Baby Owl

Today has been such a rollercoaster of emotions! Good ones. Even the bad ones were good. This morning I realized it takes me 40 minutes just to wake up after the alarm goes off, and about 45 to fully get out of  bed. I don’t know what happened, but after I got married I quit being a morning person. And then I got pregnant, and the baby basically makes me throw up if I get up before seven. It’s not a morning person either. But I’ve had some GREAT news that I can’t quite share online yet, so that made it a really lovely day. Plus, I always like Mondays…
