    On blogging and confidence

A couple of years ago, I was a girl with no idea how to dress herself. I wore jeans every day that I hated on myself, shirts in long proportions that never seemed to flatter or be the right length, and sweatshirts because really, that’s just what all my friends wore and I wasn’t brave enough to break the style mold of that clique. The only time I really felt pretty was on Sundays or for special occasions when I could dress up and nobody would ask me why I looked so fancy. But then one week in December, I started following a few fashion blogs (Selective Potential, What I…

Animal print, tags, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

First of all: yes. I am wearing a Christmas shirt in the summer. Shut up, I like it. And you can’t really tell in real life unless you stare at my chest for long enough to be considered creepy. I just felt like being a little quirky today, to tell the truth. And there was this one article in InStyle where someone paired a printed skirt with a tee shirt, and I haven’t done that in a while, so voila! I only have like three graphic tees, and this is one of them. I know, my outfit-planning is so detailed… Second: Marie tagged me, and since I haven’t done that…

    30×30 Day 14: Contrast

On Friday, Mr. Owl and I went to a Vicci Martinez concert. I actually had no idea who she was, but apparently she came in third on the show The Voice, and I was very impressed by her talent. Seriously, if she came in third, I want to know who won first. She’s quite good! But we weren’t really there to see her– we were there for the opening band, Perry Acker, who grew up across the street from Mr. Owl, and one of whom is Mr. Owl’s (other) best friend. It was very fun, although also very loud (why, oh why, do they have to have the speakers so…

    30×30

I saw that Jess and Salazar are doing the 30×30, which I had completely forgotten about, and on impulse (which was probably a bad idea, knowing how I’m terrible at doing anything for 30 days straight) I decided to join in. On the day that it started. Now, I haven’t actually picked all 30 garments yet (I have 21), and I broke the shopping ban that goes with the 30×30 challenge already– but in my defense, it’s Mr. Owl and my 6 month anniversary on Saturday, and needed to buy a especially pretty dress for it (Yes. Needed. Shush.)… and that dress isn’t going to remix with anything but oh well.…

    Five Months.

As I mentioned yesterday, it was Mr. Owl and my 5 month anniversary. His parents apparently kept making fun of us for celebrating by saying they had been together for five hundred and something months (they’ve been married for 43 years), but I think inside they just think we’re cute. And maybe a little young… and possibly pathetically inseparable… but mostly just cute. We celebrated by going out for Mexican food. We nearly consumed all of a ginormous burrito, and did consume all of a cheese crispy (crisp tortillas topped with cheese, guacamole, onions, and tomatoes)… and afterward, we went to the store and got Reeses Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bars…
