Book Review/Inspired Outfit: The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate

I meant to do a book review with this outfit, obviously, but I put it off so long that I don’t feel I can accurately review The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate any longer. When I finished the book, I really enjoyed it but I also felt so-so upon closing the last page; it was entertaining and definitely worth a read, but didn’t leave me moved in any one direction. Which isn’t as helpful when I’m trying to review it; I want a book that captures my emotions and keeps me thinking about it for days afterward — whether it be with love or with sadness. The best books impart lingering…

Book Review/Inspired Outfit: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Excuse the horrible photoshop. I was being lazy and trying to go fast. As you can see, I’ve just finished reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and it’s time for a review! I had planned to be inspired by one of the photographs other than the cover, but… did I mention lazy? As well, it’s probably the most recognizable of all of the images, seeing as it’s on the cover, and it’s the closest thing I have to an outfit out of any of the peculiars. So, here we are. I have actually been wanting to read this book ever since Salazar reviewed it, and I was not disappointed!…

Book Review/Inspired Outfit: The Town That Forgot How To Breathe

And we’re back with the book review/inspired outfit posts (or sometimes, movie review) that I had been meaning to continue back when I first started them! Today I’ll be talking about The Town that Forgot How to Breathe, by Kenneth J. Harvey. I was drawn to this book solely for its cover, which you can see is pretty striking, and when I read the synopsis it only further sparked my interest. I’ve just finished reading it, so with the story fresh in my mind, let’s delve into what I thought. First, the synopsis, found on the inside of the book jacket: “Something strange is happening in the seaside town of…

    Girl on fire

I finally read The Hunger Games a week ago, and today (inspired by Salazar and her always-amazing book-review outfits) I decided to do a Hunger Games inpsired outfit, and give you a sort-of review. I say “sort-of” because it’s been a week and I really should have written a review the day I finished the book. Or at least the day after. The first thing I can tell you is that I liked it. It wasn’t as grotesque or brutal as I had imagined (given the premise and all), and the end of the book was a fantastic way to get me wanting to read the second one (which I…

It had something to do with vampire that I don’t remember or care about.

So.. a book review. This is actually a novella, and I realized that another Twilight book review is due- as I wanted to knock them off once a month. Instead of… whatever the second one is called in the series… you get this. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner– aka, that one vampire that I can’t remember who apparently dies anyway. Sorry to spoil it for you. Bree Tanner shows up in the end of Eclipse, and I gathered from Stephenie Meyer’s forward that she may have stood out somewhat from all the other vampires that attacked the Cullen clan in the end. But for the life of me,…
