    Simplicity and pregnancy myths

And the dark hair is back! Let me just put one thing straight right now: yes, it is completely safe to dye your hair while pregnant. I’m surprised by how many people have asked or straight out condemned me for doing it, but I suppose it’s just one of those things that people never bother to look up first! And I definitely did. Bleaching your hair is warned against, though there are no signs that it’s ever harmed a baby, but ammonia-free dye to a darker color is perfectly fine. Thankfully, because I love having darker hair in the fall, and I would have been stuck with a bad hair…

Pregnancy: wonderful, terrible, and just plain weird

Let me just put this out there right now: the following facts might be TMI if you are detail-sensitive or a man (especially a related-to-me one). So I apologize. But I wanted to write about a few things for my fellow first-time pregnant women who might have discovered weird things about their bodies during pregnancy, are too shy to ask around, and don’t want to resort to Google for answers.      To be honest, yesterday I spent most of the day either pantsless or shirtless because I was too hot and lazy to do anything. Pregnancy does that to you. And I almost didn’t get dressed. Most of the day was spent either laying on the bed reading, getting my hours in for work (pantsless or shirtless; the pros of working from home), or admiring the ever-growing baby belly (yes, I admire my own baby bump. I can’t help it!) But then… magic. This cardigan came for me in the mail from Oasap, and I. Am. In. Love. I will be obsessed with this sweater for a while, so I might…

    Wishing For…

You guys, I want fall to come SO BAD. It’s September. That means tights, scarves, tall boots, and hot tea, right? I want cool mornings, and snuggly evenings, and misty days filled with orange leaves. But the only “fall” thing that has happened so far is the spiders. My least favorite thing about fall. They’re everywhere. In my house, on my walls, in my bathroom, in the trees, in the grass, on the siding… ugh. I almost didn’t go outside for pictures today because a huge fat orange spider made its web right across our front door.  And I am not brave. Fortunately, we have two other doors to the…

    Weddings and Memories

This weekend, one of my best friends got married in Colorado Springs. I met her back when I was 17 and my dad had a job which moved us around the country, and we lived in New Mexico for nine months. She and I pretty much immediately hit it off right away over an impromptu session of singing Phantom of the Opera, and since then have been the best of friends. I could not be more thrilled for her! I used to reassure her that yes, one day she would get married. It was a great satisfaction to watch her do so, and say “I told you so!”  She was a beautiful…
