    Heat Waves

Yesterday was the most beautifully hot day ever. After work, I immediately changed into this because my work outfit just wasn’t cutting it for the heat. Those of you that have followed my blog forever will know that this skirt used to be a pair of shorts. Hideous ones. But, obviously, it was nothing a pair of scissors and a little stint at the sewing machine couldn’t change! We went downtown Gig Harbor for ice cream when Mr. O. got home, and as you can see, while we strolled in the heat, my hair fluffed out for the first time… ever. I’ve never dealt with frizzy hair before because my hair is…

    Red, white, and nerdiness

I am really excited about today’s post, because for this post I wore my very first sponsor item: a lovely hand-printed scarf from my newest sponsor, Quotation Marks. I was very happy when she offered me a scarf with a quote of my choice in red print, because red is my favorite color… and it meant I could be very, very nerdy with a scarf. As well, it was the perfect timing to receive a scarf! The first two days of summer here were wonderful and warm, but then the weather went back to its typical Washington-ness and we got lots of rain. So by the time I got this scarf, it…

    30×30: Day 7

I’m having a really hard time remembering which pictures were taken on which days, since I don’t post my photos right away, and this week they’re all out of order,  and sometimes I can’t download them for a few days from Mr. Owl’s card. So I’m fairly certain this is day seven, but I could be wrong. Although, going through my Facebook 30×30 album (which has outfits that didn’t make it to the blog), day seven is the only logical day for this outfit. I just remember this as the day I had a lot of trouble with my skirt. Trouble in the form of… you know… wind. I really…

    Fashion Blogger Cliché

I have finally succumbed to the thing it seems all fashion bloggers do: pose in front of a (mostly) brick wall. In this case, it was an empty house at a waterfront park and I wanted to move into said house… because hey, everyone loves a brick house! Right? Other fashion blogger-type things in these pictures: wearing leg-shortening, vintage-looking boots with a dress; skirts belted at the waist; ginormous earrings. Shucks, I’m full of clichés today. But hey, at least I had fun and I felt like a cowgirl! Or… something. Mr. Owl isn’t sure he approves of these shoes– he saw them and said “What do you think it…

    Cleaning and stealing.

I cleaned out my closet this morning, and took out all of the clothes I’ll be selling. It’s amazing how many garments were in my closet that I actually just don’t wear. Not because of the modesty issue, but because they’re too big, or they just fit me funny. And I now have a pile of clothes on the back of my vanity chair to wash, style, model, photograph, and put up for sale. It should be a fun project. But it might take me a while. There’s also a “maybe” pile, for the few dresses that I absolutely love and really want to somehow modify to make them work. Some…
