    One jumpsuit two ways

So this is a garment that has my family and friends split on whether it’s good or terrible, and I confess I tried it on at the thrift store because it looked crazy and I was going to make fun of it. My dad loves it. My mom and my husband think it’s weird and ugly. And I mean… jumpsuits? I have always been firmly on the “Definitely not!” side of that argument. I used to think only babies should wear onesies (that’s what it is, basically. A grown-up onesie.) Besides, how do you perform basic bodily functions in them? Like, you know, doesn’t it make peeing a bit tedious?…

    Couple Style: St. Patrick’s Day

I can’t type much today; I’ve got a sleeping baby in my arms. Which is not a bad reason. These were our St. Patrick’s day outfits for the brief time I was out of the house; we went to my parents’ for dinner, and snapped pictures next to the beautiful flowering tree in their yard. My husband is fresh from work. He called this his “lazy style” because he neglected to zip his boots and has disheveled hair. We tested taking jumping pictures, as you can see. My husband says, and I quote, “You look like a… farting fairy.” You can see how my confidence is continually boosted by this…

    The End of an Era

Well, you guys, this is it! This will be my last outfit post before Asa is born. My last outfit post before I take some maternity leave from the blog for two weeks. The last time you’ll see me (other than on Instagram, which I can’t quit, haha!) before I have an actual, real baby in my arms. I can’t believe it! Even after nine months of preparation, it just doesn’t seem real. I’m sitting here impatient for him to come, but at the same time… I have no idea what it’s going to be like when he’s really here. I will definitely be sharing a picture of him when…

    Stripes

So here’s a thing you don’t know about me, which perhaps I shouldn’t be sharing because you might think it’s gross, but… uhm… I don’t wash my thrifted clothes unless they actually smell or look dirty. Most of the stuff I’ve thrifted smells like laundry detergent, and I figure… hey, if it smells clean, it probably is! Right? Anyone? Yeah. My husband thinks it’s gross and I avoid telling him I haven’t washed a thrifted shirt. Usually I get away with it. But obviously if it just smells old or has stains or feels groaty, I’ll wash it! Point being, I got this shirt and sweater from Goodwill the other…

    Sunny side out.

I have been thinking a lot lately about how my style is now vs how I want it to be. If I had my way, I would look like this or this (Teika is probably my very top style inspiration!) every day; I have always loved that sort of modern interpretation of the 50’s, but I’ve never quite gotten it right. I think part of this is hair and makeup: I have a theory that how you are perceived and how you generally look in fashion has a lot to do with everything on your head. Being me, I have never liked to spend hours doing my hair or makeup, so I’ve always shied…
