The Whole 30: What to read, how to cook, and what to keep in your kitchen.

I did a little diet update yesterday, but the lovely Eliza commented that she’d love to know more about how I even know what to cook and what to keep in my kitchen, so I thought I’d do a more in-depth review of all of the tips and tricks I’ve learned so far. This is going to be a long and detailed post, so get yourself some (healthy) snacks, grab a cup of tea, and maybe whip out a pen and notepad to write anything down that is helpful to you. And feel free to comment with questions! First off, we’ll start with what to read. The first book, It…

Food Update: The Whole 30 Progress

So we are now on day 13 on our Whole 30 adventure, and so far I LOVE it. I have so much more energy, and I feel so much more free to eat without worrying about what the food is going to do to me body or my skin. It’s wonderful! It’s amazing how much better you feel when you are properly nourishing your body. And as you can see, we eat pretty darn well. And we eat a lot more variety than we had before. The entirety of fruits and veggies and meats is open to us, and I’ve been picking out so much that I’d normally pass over.…

    Health Updates: The Whole 30

Recently, I read a post by Jessica of What I Wore about The Whole 30. She recapped the experience from the benefits to how she ate and even some exercise she did while doing The Whole 30, and it got me keenly interested in this lifestyle change. I am not going to call it a diet, because really… it’s not a diet. It’s a change of life. A change of what you eat. A choice to put healthy food in your body and leave less-healthy foods by the wayside. I have been looking for this sort of information and backup for a really, really long time. It’s the kind of…

    Thursday’s adventure: Dieting

As you know, or maybe you don’t so you should go read this, I am trying to lose a moderate amount of weight and become generally healthier (aka, not binge on junk food all the time and be able to take a hike without wanting to die at the end). I am reluctant to call it “dieting” because dieting is a fad, and I plan to implement this healthy change of eating habits for the rest of my life. I would like to start writing a weekly weigh-in post, both for myself and for any of you who are trying to become healthier, to record a general overview of my…

    This is my workout face.

I have always been quite self-conscious about my butt and thighs, so it is a big deal when I say that I really like this outfit. I’ve never liked myself in shorts or jeans, because it highlights my butt and my thighs, whereas skirts tend to camouflage what I consider to be my problem areas. I credit the cardigan for part of the camouflaging done here, though, since it’s designed to fall gracefully in the front and creates a straighter, more flattering line visually. But exciting news! My family (aka mom, dad, and I) signed up for a membership to the YMCA today. This means I may become the woman with the magical shrinking…
