Book Review/Inspired Outfit: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Excuse the horrible photoshop. I was being lazy and trying to go fast. As you can see, I’ve just finished reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and it’s time for a review! I had planned to be inspired by one of the photographs other than the cover, but… did I mention lazy? As well, it’s probably the most recognizable of all of the images, seeing as it’s on the cover, and it’s the closest thing I have to an outfit out of any of the peculiars. So, here we are. I have actually been wanting to read this book ever since Salazar reviewed it, and I was not disappointed!…

    Transitioning

One of the reasons I try to blog every day is so that I actually get dressed every day. I’m not going to lie: if you don’t see a blog post, that means I’m spending the day in my yoga pants and this tee shirt. But recently, my husband jokingly said “One of these days, I’m going to throw away your yoga pants” and I realized it’s nice for him to see me actually dressed every day… and it’s good for me, too. It’s not a part of my body I’ve ever been insecure about before, but now that I’ve had a baby, my stomach has become a lot squishier — if not actually thicker, just less muscled — than it ever was, and when I wear jeans and sit thusly, I get rolls. So I looked at the pictures that I otherwise loved, and thought “ugh, belly squish. I won’t post those ones.” Even though I like everything else about these pictures — the…

    Summer afternoon

I think this weekend is bringing on the (temporary) end of the beautiful weather we’ve had; it’s been cloudy all day today. But it might still be warm. Even with the clouds, yesterday was really, really nice. I make my family eat outside because it was way too nice to be indoors. Plus, I love a good outdoor table setting! I foresee a lot of outdoor eating this summer. My parents have a gorgeous yard with a bunch of fruit and nut trees for cover, and the ground is relatively flat. Perfect for doing lots of fun things outside! I really want to host an old-fashioned yard party, with bocce…
