    Pacific Northwesterners

Today, I quit my job. I know that sounds crazy after I’ve admitted we’re pretty broke, but… we’ll live. We’ve been scraping by for two months on just my husband’s paycheck, so I know we can make it, even if it is tough. There are moms out there who work part time or full time, and I don’t know how they do it. It might sound really weak to admit that even working 4 hours a day wore me out, stressed me out, made me emotional and more prone to impatience with Asa… I just can’t be that woman. I can’t be a superwoman who has a steady job and…

    … and baby makes three

Happy Monday, everyone! To kick off the week, I thought I’d share the little family session my husband and I did with… ourselves, haha! I had been contacted by Joules and they kindly sent me a few things to review, and since there was something for all of us, and it all went together, and it’s the time of year when we’ll be needing a good family photo for Christmas cards, we thought… why not? So my husband set up the tripod, and we all traipsed out to the yard to do some pictures. I am still teaching my husband how to pose; I told him to look tough, and…

    Love and Fall Leaves

On Sunday, my husband and I went in search of some good fall trees to shoot photos, and we found the perfect location in the parking lot of a school close to where I grew up. They have the most gorgeous red and yellow trees right now! Oh my goodness, I could have died. And in a moment of rarity, I let my husband do the picture-taking. I’m so picky about pictures, and I definitely need to learn to relax and let him do his thing, because he is an excellent photographer. I’m just a control freak when it comes to taking outfit pictures, ha! It was a lot of…

Man of Style: Blazers and Bow Ties

I haven’t done a style post featuring Mr. Owl for so long, so I was really excited when Tie Society offered us the opportunity to try out their services. They’re a pretty cool company where you can choose an option to have one, three, five, or ten ties or bow-ties a month, and when you’re done with the tie or bow-tie, you can send it back and select another one. I’ve heard of these kinds of services for women, but this is the first men’s type of a trade-off I’ve ever seen!   We went up to Seattle for the day, and got at least five people complimenting him on…

    Spring Brights

I was doing my makeup when my husband got dressed this morning, and although I knew he was wearing yellow pants and a blue coat, it didn’t really dawn on me that we would match when I got dressed. I only wore this dress because I was trying out some new bright eyeshadow, and the bright dress seemed fitting. But I think that’s how it is, living with someone. Before Mr. Owl, my mom and I would almost always come out of our rooms dressed in the same colors, and it seemed often when my out-of-state friends would come to stay for a week, we’d always end up matching. I…
