    All Dress April | Outfit

It’s my birthday month! This month, I am going to participate in All Dress April which was, I think, started by someone in the Modcloth BST group that I’m a part of. I’ve done Dressember and I’ve done other various wear-a-dress-all-the-time challenges, but I like that All Dress April’s rules are a dress OR a skirt every day. And what better way to start out the month than with this glorious eShakti dress I found at Goodwill? Apparently, there’s a return center based in Seattle, so a lot of eShakti dresses get donated to Goodwill from the return center. I’ve thrifted one other eShakti dress at my local Goodwill, and…

    Seven Years | Outfit

Today is my 7-year blog anniversary! When I started this blog, I had no idea what it would turn into. I was 20, we had just moved to a new state, and I was looking for some sort of outlet to record my thoughts and all of the weird things I liked. (Hello, icanhazcheezburger — does anyone still read that site? It has gone downhill, sadly.) I was only a baby in terms of what I liked about fashion; I only started dressing up more to go out because people didn’t know me and I felt a bit freer in terms of style. My first fashion post that is still…

    Dreamgirl | Outfit

Before this morning, I had not taken any outfit pictures for over a week. I’ve been going through some sort of… style crisis, perhaps? I like my style and I don’t want it to change, but there was still something missing. Then, as I was binge-reading Ashley’s blog, it hit me: the hair. Ever since I dyed my hair, I’ve been sticking with my go-to of throwing it up in a bun with a victory roll in the front, and adding a headscarf. But this seems like such a crime, to have colorful hair and be constantly pushing it up and out of sight. So yesterday, I bought myself…

    International Women’s Day | Outfit

Growing up, I was what most people would likely consider to be sheltered. I had a curfew. I wasn’t allowed to watch Disney movies that were too magical. I didn’t have Barbies. I once left the mom and dad dollhouse dolls hugging on a bed, and didn’t get why that was a problem with my friend’s very strict mom (and I mean, I was like… six. I still don’t get why she assumed the worst. Seriously.) I thought kissing made babies for longer than I care to admit. So, it’s probably no surprise that even today, while I am less conservative than my parents in some ways, and my…

    Bubblegum | Outfit

When one dyes one’s hair bright pink, one must wear all-pink at least once. It’s funny to think that years ago, pink was one of my least favorite colors. It was down there with brown and black, more because I had this stubborn idea that I wanted to be different. Yes, I was girly, but no I would not like pink just because I was girly. That went on for years. I was never adamantly against pink; I would wear it on occasion, and I never hated it, it just wasn’t my favorite. I wouldn’t actively choose pink over other colors. And I had never thought it was really my…
