    Girl on fire

I finally read The Hunger Games a week ago, and today (inspired by Salazar and her always-amazing book-review outfits) I decided to do a Hunger Games inpsired outfit, and give you a sort-of review. I say “sort-of” because it’s been a week and I really should have written a review the day I finished the book. Or at least the day after. The first thing I can tell you is that I liked it. It wasn’t as grotesque or brutal as I had imagined (given the premise and all), and the end of the book was a fantastic way to get me wanting to read the second one (which I…

Green Florals and a Baby Owl

Today has been such a rollercoaster of emotions! Good ones. Even the bad ones were good. This morning I realized it takes me 40 minutes just to wake up after the alarm goes off, and about 45 to fully get out of  bed. I don’t know what happened, but after I got married I quit being a morning person. And then I got pregnant, and the baby basically makes me throw up if I get up before seven. It’s not a morning person either. But I’ve had some GREAT news that I can’t quite share online yet, so that made it a really lovely day. Plus, I always like Mondays…

The 70’s called: they think I’m fabulous.

I have a confession to make: I was absolutely terrified to wear this in public. Don’t get me wrong: I ADORE this dress (kimono, caftain, 1970’s “At Home Wear” from Sears (that’s what the tag says) whatever it is) and I  have no issues swanning around in it at home. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’ll be my go-to wear when I’m pregnant enough to feel like a whale. It’s going to fit me the entire way through. But in public? I mean… how many women under 70 do you see wearing a garment like this? Ever?  In Washington, that number is approximately… like… one. Me. It took all I…

    Dandelion Fluff

This, my friends, is what our yard looks like right now. Isn’t it beautiful? And also, shameful? Ha! My husband is incredibly allergic to grass, so he attempted to mow down the beast our yard has become but after a few rounds on the mower, he came inside with red eyes, a runny nose, and terrible reactions to the grassy pollen. I could hop on the mower and try, but it’s a sad little mower with one dull blade that cuts like a two-year-old self-trimming with blunt scissors, so… I’m going to wait and see if I can convince my mom to come over with her awesome mower and do…

Graysmarsh U-Pick Berry and Lavender Farm

On Saturday, we went to the Graysmarsh farm in Sequim, where you can pick your own raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, loganberries, blackberries, boysenberries, artichokes, lavender, and who knows what else! It was SO much fun; this is one of the places we went on the day we got engaged last year, so we’ve decided to try to make it a yearly tradition to come. I tried to discover a little more about the farm, but the only thing I can find is that these berry fields were being cultivated as early as 1855. Everything else on their website history page is… not useful to me. Ha! Well, it’s interesting, but it…
