    Of smiling

I have never liked smiling for pictures. And by smiling, I mean… showing teeth. I always felt self-conscious about it because I thought it made my face look chubby. In fact, I’ve never really liked to be photographed by anyone except for myself and one or two trusted — professional — photographers. Even now, I tend to give a close-lipped smile, or just generally try to look pleasant, for others taking photographs or myself when I’m doing blog photos. But I want to change that. The Elephant in the Room

I was reading Amia‘s blog the other day, and came across her post in response to Marianne‘s post titled “Dare“, about a comment she had received from someone who disdainfully remarked that fashion blogging was just girls who think they’re pretty and they’re not, taking pictures of themselves and basically being vain. He was a sweet old man who always made jokes and liked my coffee the best, and he would sit and talk until he was forced to leave by another customer driving up). But somehow, it seems like lately I’ve stopped wearing brooches even though I keep grabbing them at thrift stores. I think a big part of that has to do…

    Red and Plaid

I am absolutely in love with this outfit. Probably because I adore red, and there’s red everywhere. Lips, cardigan, shoes, hearts on the tights (the back of them). These are the tights I wore for my wedding, and I WISH they were a little better constructed because I adore them. They’ve got runs everywhere, but I don’t even care. I also very much love the necklace/collar, but I’m afraid to wear it because it’s an antique and the pearls fall off a lot. I’d love to get it restored someday, because it’s a beautiful piece.  I also love how much better my pictures are when my husband takes them. Ah,…
