Marvel skirt, red tank top, and retro sunglasses

Hello lovelies! Today I am working on what feels like a massive Etsy update, tackling the boxes I have yet to delve into and posting some of my most treasured finds (wedding dresses! 1960’s wiggle dress! 60’s and 70’s slips/sheer robes! 1970’s maxi dresses!) which is hard. All of the things I got through photographing today are things I’ve been hoarding because… pretty. Even though they don’t fit me, or they wouldn’t fit my style/life at all. Having an Etsy shop is really good for me, because it forces me to break my hoard-all-the-pretty-vintage habits and share what I’ve found with someone else who can actually wear the garments and…

    White Eyelet and Red Snakeskin

I have to confess: I took this belt off within five minutes of getting to work. It’s one of the sad things of being pregnant; lots of my favorite skirts and belts don’t fit so well any more. But that just gives me leave to buy MORE skirts and belts that DO fit! It’s also made me wear dresses a lot more, because there’s more stomach room in most of my dresses, and the waists aren’t usually as snug. We’ll see how long that lasts.   I have also been trying to wear the lightest (as in, coolest) clothes possible, and the least amount of layers I can get away with,…

    Grays Harbor Lighthouse

On Saturday, I surprised my husband with some donuts and coffee for breakfast– we woke up around seven am and laid in bed for a while, and then I told him to stay in bed until I got back and I journeyed off to the store while he lay there wondering where the heck I’d gone– and then I asked if he wanted to come away with me. I’d been considering surprising him with an adventure all week but I didn’t decide to actually do it until that morning. So we went off to Westport, where the tallest lighthouse in Washington can be found. My family has gone to Grays…

    Without

Since the time change means it’s dark by the time I see Mr. Owl, I decided today to take pictures into my own hands. Because I have these new shoes and this new dress that aren’t even really new any more that I haven’t even worn on the blog. Getting engaged really messes with taking outfit pictures, I tell ya. All that wedding planning. Gosh. I miss blogging regularly. So these pictures are nowhere near the loveliness that Mr. Owl’s are, and it has been FOREVER since I’ve taken my own pictures so I’m totally out of sync with the camera… and also, an essential piece of my tripod is…

    The Field of Nightmares

Today’s pictures come with a possibly disturbing story. If you are particularly queasy about spiders, I’d suggest you skip the text and just look at the pretty pictures, and don’t– I repeat don’t— even be tempted to read the story behind these pictures! I promise, I’m doing you a service by warning you. Although you do probably want to know that my family is moving again, which is how these pictures came about. This field– or rather, swampy land– is just down the road from the house that my parents and I are moving into. Mr. Owl and I were on a walk to find a good place for outfit pictures…
