Retro Maternity Wear: Black and White and Sassy

(note, popped collar for humorous effect because I was feeling… fly…?) This shirt might be the best $10 decision I ever made at Goodwill. Normally, because it’s used clothing, I don’t like spending over, say, $7 ish for a garment (unless it’s really amazing vintage), because… guys, it’s used. I mean, I have nothing against purchasing previously loved garments, but the entire reason anything is at a thrift store is that it’s no longer new. Aka, you can’t return it to the store you bought it from, cuz you’ve worn it too much and it’s lost some value. But that rant about Goodwill’s ridiculous Fashion Focus section where you can…

Striped maternity dress and red cardigan

In eight days, we will find out what the gender of this baby is. I am SO excited, and very curious to see if my gut feeling and all of the old midwives tales are true. I already automatically refer to the baby as the gender my gut tells me it is, even though there’s a 50% chance I’m totally wrong, and when I accidentally referred to it as that specific gender, my husband went “Oh, really?” He refuses to guess, because he doesn’t want to get his hopes up either way. My guess is a girl, though. This pregnancy has been so very different from Asa’s that I’m…

Gingham and stripes and dots, oh my!

I’ve been feeling really bored with getting dressed lately. Maybe it’s the lack of a huge and varied closet since we moved, maybe it’s that everything has been controlled by ease-of-nursing, but everything I’ve been wearing has gotten plain and modern and uninspiring to me. And there have been other things going on too; little, almost unconscious things. I’ve been feeling unsure about my weight lately, and my current body shape. That post-pregnancy confidence with having my waist back has morphed into a mild awareness that my belly has gone mommy-soft (not that it was ever, ever flat) and is bigger than it used to be, and my hip-to-boob ratio…

    Think Pink!

I really don’t have much to say today; it’s a lazy day at home and the only things on my list are to clean the bathroom, get the laundry done, and do the dishes. My parents, brother and I are doing the Whole 30 again, which will be great for me because I’ve been craving chocolate a ton! I’m excited to get back into healthy habits with eating. Next on my list is to start taking daily walks. Well, once we live in a place where I can do that, haha! I can’t really take Asa with me because the roads around here are unsafe with a stroller. But…

    Mom Jeans

This weekend, I finally decided that it was time to move out of the ever-so-comfortable maternity jeans and into real, made-for-a-woman jeans — as in, not the low-cut skinny jeans currently filling my drawers. You know, the ones that aren’t made for a girl with rather curvaceous thighs and a plentiful bum, and thus show some skin whenever you bend over or sit down? Yeah. I should probably toss those. But I love the colors. Anyway! So I went jeans shopping. And I discovered two weird things: one, Kohl’s doesn’t seem to be able to make jeans that don’t have a lot of junk on the back pockets, or jeans…
