    Revelations and Introductions

Quite a few of you new readers probably don’t know that Mara is not my real name. I have been blogging and posting on the internet as Mara since I was sixteen– spurred by my old username and elf name, Maranwe Telrunya– and the fact that when I started up online, I was young and the internet seemed like a scary place. I decided quite a while ago that when I publish my writing, I would like to use the pseudonym Mara Bjornsson (the last name is a very old spelling of my real last name) because I never thought my real name was very author-y. But lately, along with…

    30×30 Day 14: Contrast

On Friday, Mr. Owl and I went to a Vicci Martinez concert. I actually had no idea who she was, but apparently she came in third on the show The Voice, and I was very impressed by her talent. Seriously, if she came in third, I want to know who won first. She’s quite good! But we weren’t really there to see her– we were there for the opening band, Perry Acker, who grew up across the street from Mr. Owl, and one of whom is Mr. Owl’s (other) best friend. It was very fun, although also very loud (why, oh why, do they have to have the speakers so…

    30×30: Day 7

I’m having a really hard time remembering which pictures were taken on which days, since I don’t post my photos right away, and this week they’re all out of order,  and sometimes I can’t download them for a few days from Mr. Owl’s card. So I’m fairly certain this is day seven, but I could be wrong. Although, going through my Facebook 30×30 album (which has outfits that didn’t make it to the blog), day seven is the only logical day for this outfit. I just remember this as the day I had a lot of trouble with my skirt. Trouble in the form of… you know… wind. I really…

    Demure

I don’t know what it is about this outfit, but something about it made me feel very demure, like a schoolteacher or a librarian. Which is funny, because the top 1/3rd of this dress in the back is sheer lace.  Not exactly demure, even with a camisole underneath. I’m very excited about finally having a blog shop (Fancy Feathers, click if you missed yesterday’s post!)– more so than I thought I would be. So far, finding and using old outfit pictures has worked very well to display the clothes I’m clearing out of my closet. And while I have a little sadness for a few of the things I’m getting…

    Seaside Adventures

{Romy} Dress: $25; {Target} Shoes: $6 {Forever 21} Ring: $3.80 {Thrifted} Cardigan: $5.99 I am back! This weekend was a very busy one for Mr. Owl and I. On Saturday, the day these pictures were taken, we shot some engagement pictures of the moment he proposed to her, which was… probably the weirdest thing I’ve ever done, since we had to sort of pretend we were just hanging out and then suddenly take pictures from far away… but it was also a very sweet moment. I felt a bit like an intruder watching them and taking pictures of the proposal, but they were happy (she said yes), and it was…
