The Magic of a Good Dress

First things first: I’ve been added to Firmoo’s blogger awards contest, and I would LOVE it if you could click through to this page and vote for me! You can do it once a day from now until December 14th. All you have to do is click “vote” — no registration, no entering your email, nothing. Just vote and you’re done! Today I woke up suspecting I would need copious amounts of coffee to make it through the day, and I was not wrong. Last night was one of the hardest nights Asa has ever had going to sleep; he fought bed for a full hour and a half before…

    Dressember is Here!

It’s December! I cannot believe we are here already, but I am so excited to participate in another Dressember. If you weren’t around last year and are wondering, Dressember is a fashion challenge for charity: women (and men, I suppose) wear a dress every day of the month in December to raise money towards freeing enslaved and abused women all over the world. 100% of the donated funds go directly to the International Justice Mission, an organization that helps abolish slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of oppression. I found Dressember last year through a sponsor, and I was immediately drawn to help! It is a cause that resonates deeply with…

    Owl and the Boy Vintage

It’s here! This last weekend, as I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I worked hard to get some listings going, and after consultation with a friend and also some posts on Facebook, I decided to open up shop today! I’m pretty excited about this. For some reason, I almost love finding and styling vintage to sell better than finding and styling vintage to keep. It’s just a really fun process, and I’ve always enjoyed the behind-the-scenes process of styling, shopping, and photographing for things other than personal style. So, what can you expect to pop up in the shop? Well. Right now there are nine items up, most of which are…

    A Dollar Well Spent

I know, guys; this is totally a spring outfit. Forgive me. On Friday, while we were thrift-shopping for props and costumes for our short film, I came across three western-themed dresses. One was browns and creams and oranges, in a sort of Indian-type print; the other was a teal green, with embroidery on the chest and fringe (also on the chest), and then there was this one. I nearly grabbed all three, but we weren’t supposed to be shopping for me and I knew my husband would probably naysay the other two. This one, though… I had to have. It was originally ankle-length, but with a little hem-job it’s pretty…

    Fairy of the Woods

I’m sorry I haven’t been posting lately (although if you check my Facebook page, I’ve posted a few bits and bobs, but not much), but I’ve been really uninspired to put words to the pictures that I have. I’ve got a camping trip, an outfit post, and a 4th of July day all photographed, but… ah, I don’t know what it is with words lately! On Wednesday, I did a photoshoot with my friend Sarah– isn’t she gorgeous? We had a blast tramping around in the woods, pretending she was a forest fairy (or a Disney Princess– while we were shooting, a fawn came up within ten feet of her…
