A quick technical note to email subscribers

When I initially switched over to hosting my own site from wordpress.com, I only did a quick import of posts that had been categorized as “fashion”, which only got me so far back as 2011. I started the blog in 2009, but back then they weren’t ALL fashion posts, and once I did get really into fashion posts, I still didn’t categorize them all as “fashion.” So there are a lot of old outfits that never made it to the new blog. So today, I’ve decided to go through and update all of my old archives– meaning, comb through and publicize some very, very old outfit posts. Which means that…

On Those Days When You Just Can’t.

My child has forgotten how to sleep. That photo was taken after a long fight yesterday when I felt victorious that he’d finally dropped off, only to have him wake up 15 minutes later and refuse to nap. He goes to bed at eight or nine, only to wake up at midnight, at four am, at six am, and then at 7:30am for good. And last night, he woke up at 2am. It’s been like this for two weeks now. Leavenworth

So this last weekend, we went up to Leavenworth with my husband’s family. It was the first time I’d actually spent the night in Leavenworth, and previous to this I’d only ever been there three times — once when it was excruciatingly hot, once when it was extremely cold (and I was eight months pregnant and terrified of slipping on the icy streets), and once when it was actually quite nice but we didn’t get to explore as long as I’d hoped. To get to stay overnight was so, so nice! We stayed at the Enzian Inn, which is well known for the man who blows the horn on the…

    July 4th

(Ladies, he’s single. In case you were wondering. I am a total matchmaker.) (She doesn’t like fireworks.) We talked about how neither one of us likes fireworks. My parents. This is their true nature. Again… he’s single. This brother of mine. And he’s always happy. So, you know.  Just a few (or more than a few) snaps from 4th of July, which was like… forever ago. I know. I took a massive amount of pictures and got lazy about editing them. Oops! Happy Friday! Bloglovin | Chictopia | Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest | Instagram | Fiction Press

    Helen Elizabeth Burnson, April 27, 1923 – July 15, 2014

My grandma — my dad’s mom — was a very special lady. I had always prayed she would live to see me married and having kids; I was born on her birthday, plus I was her first granddaughter, so I feel like we’ve always shared a special bond. I have so many fond memories of playing at her house; rifling through her jewelry drawers, playing with dolls, pretending to be a dog under the table while she fed me cheese squares, feeding the stray animals that came to her back door… so many memories. She turned 91 years old this year. To me, grandma Helen seemed like someone who would…
