Practical Paleo: Eating Clean on a Budget

As most of you know, one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to eat 100% Paleo for the month of January. Unfortunately, on the last day of our family vacation, everyone elected to stop at a burger place on the way home and I was forced to eat a hamburger. With a bun. And cheese. And a milkshake. (okay, not forced, haha!). But I’m still determined to stick with it, and I wanted to do a series on Paleo eating for those of you that are interested and wanting to change the way you eat. Throughout this month and next month, I hope to write posts about Paleo on a…

Paleo Recipes: Essentials for Breakfast and Life

Today I want to share with you two recipes that are essential, in my opinion, to eating and cooking Paleo. First up is one of my absolute favorite things to eat for breakfast now. Not only is it delicious, but it combines three of my favorite foods — bacon, tomatoes, and avocado — and one food that I hated until I started eating clean — eggs. So, funny story: this morning, I got so stressed out over a picture of an egg I wanted to irritated-pregnant-woman-hormonal-cry about it. See, I have never been a very gifted egg flipper. In all my years of attempting to fry a good egg, they…

Meals made Paleo: Spaghetti (squash) and Green Beans (with bacon)

Planning to blog about Paleo recipes has definitely confirmed two things so far: 1. I am not a food photographer. At all. You guys, I blame it on the terrible light in our house and the fact that we only have ONE window downstairs. And also, because I’m usually too busy with cooking to set up good pictures. You know. And 2. I really, really need to remember to measure things while cooking, because otherwise it’s just a guesstimate when it comes time to share the recipe. Oops. Ever since I was little, spaghetti has been one of my absolute favorite meals. Growing up only changed one thing– now I…

    What is Paleo?

Since I’ve switched over to a Paleo way of eating for pregnancy as well as my forseeable future (the rest of my life, maybe!), I’ve gotten quite a few questions that need answering on what Paleo really is. Before I go into details, let me just say that I go by the Whole 9 Life way of eating, and I’m not sure if that’s different from a traditional Paleoist. I am not a completely and wholly strict Paleo eater, and occasionally eat white potatoes, honey, and non-grain-based cooking alcohols, and don’t bother micro-editing out the ingredients in things like bullion, additives to canned tunafish, etc. because I don’t eat those…

Quick Recipe: Indian-inspired Paleo Coconut Chicken

I was going to share a makeup tutorial/update with you today, but I partially don’t have time to do the editing, and also… I just made myself lunch and you guys: I am a good cook. If I do say so myself. Haha! And this was so good, I just had to share. So forgive the iPhone picture; I wasn’t planning on blogging my lunch today. I finally finished up looking through all of my cookbooks for Paleo-friendly recipes (or recipes that can be easily made Paleo), and the one I ended on was Indian food. So today when I got home from Bible study, of course… I wanted Indian…
