Paleo Cooking: A Review of Paleo Cookbooks

As most of you know, I follow the Paleo diet due to dietary restrictions (dairy and legume intolerance, wheat allergy) as well as a general care for my own health and wanting to make sure Asa doesn’t have issues breastfeeding, since certain non-Paleo foods definitely affect him as well. Since we now live with my parents, who also follow the Paleo diet, I realized that my mom and I have a very nice stack of Paleo cookbooks to use, and I thought it might be nice to rate each one, for any of you who might be looking to buy a Paleo cookbook but don’t know which one to go…

    Guest Post: Ladyface Blog

Hi everyone! My name is Becca, and I’m thrilled to be sharing a recipe with you on Kristina’s lovely blog today. Kristina is such a sweetheart and has been hugely supportive of me and my blogging endeavors over at Ladyface Blog, so I was thrilled to have a chance to support her while she’s off pinching Baby Owl’s adorable little cheeks! Seriously, have you seen that little guy yet? He’s ADORABLE. Anyway! Since Kristina has been following the Paleo diet, and I’ve been making an effort to eat less processed foods, I decided to take that inspiration and share a recipe with you that can be totally Paleo, but can…

Practical Paleo: Eating Clean on a Budget

As most of you know, one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to eat 100% Paleo for the month of January. Unfortunately, on the last day of our family vacation, everyone elected to stop at a burger place on the way home and I was forced to eat a hamburger. With a bun. And cheese. And a milkshake. (okay, not forced, haha!). But I’m still determined to stick with it, and I wanted to do a series on Paleo eating for those of you that are interested and wanting to change the way you eat. Throughout this month and next month, I hope to write posts about Paleo on a…

Paleo Recipes: Essentials for Breakfast and Life

Today I want to share with you two recipes that are essential, in my opinion, to eating and cooking Paleo. First up is one of my absolute favorite things to eat for breakfast now. Not only is it delicious, but it combines three of my favorite foods — bacon, tomatoes, and avocado — and one food that I hated until I started eating clean — eggs. So, funny story: this morning, I got so stressed out over a picture of an egg I wanted to irritated-pregnant-woman-hormonal-cry about it. See, I have never been a very gifted egg flipper. In all my years of attempting to fry a good egg, they…

    What is Paleo?

Since I’ve switched over to a Paleo way of eating for pregnancy as well as my forseeable future (the rest of my life, maybe!), I’ve gotten quite a few questions that need answering on what Paleo really is. Before I go into details, let me just say that I go by the Whole 9 Life way of eating, and I’m not sure if that’s different from a traditional Paleoist. I am not a completely and wholly strict Paleo eater, and occasionally eat white potatoes, honey, and non-grain-based cooking alcohols, and don’t bother micro-editing out the ingredients in things like bullion, additives to canned tunafish, etc. because I don’t eat those…
