Vintage Plaid Skirt and Striped Bolero

This past week, I have been feeling morning sickness unlike the sickness I felt with Asa. It lasts all day, from the moment I emerge from beneath my covers, sloth-like and groaning in the morning light, to the hour I re-enter the dark cave of sleep and bliss. Frustratingly, I cannot stand the smells and flavors of food; the pungent herbal aroma of chicken gravy, the so-strong-you-can-taste-it invasion of garlic, the bold red meatiness of ground beef… I can’t stand any of it. I am left with very few options: fruits, bland vegetables, bare sauces with no spices to speak of, and a craving for plain potato chips and dully-flavored…

A plaid skirt and Modcloth shoe review

So let me tell you the story of these shoes. I may have already blogged a little about it a while ago, but you’ll forgive me for slightly repeating myself, right? I have been searching for a good pair of shoes for winter and fall here, which means close-toed because it’s wet all the time, flat or slightly wedged because high heels with a baby are not entirely practical, and in a retro style and definitely a color because I’m tired of neutral shoes and all of my cute retro shoes basically fell apart on the same day. After a long, long search, I found these on Modcloth a month…

    Bang Bang

Do you ever have those days where you make a decision that you regret almost before you’ve even made it? Today is one of those days. As if I haven’t already done enough to my hair, I decided I wanted to trim my  bangs up a bit, since I’ve decided to give the curling iron a rest for a few days (to let my hair get over the trauma of being dyed). But right as I began to cut I thought “do I really want to do this?” *snip*  “too late…” Somehow, no matter how low I begin cutting my bangs, they end up much higher than I intended them…

    The Impossible Girl

So one of my friends posted a link to this awesome cosplayer on Facebook this morning, and after seeing one of the cosplayer’s Clara Oswald cosplays, I decided… today, I had to be Clara. It’s based on this outfit, from the Christmas Special, and while it’s not perfect… I’m actually pretty happy with it. I made do with what I had, and I like how it turned out! I just wish I had an actual white blouse instead of a gray tee shirt, but oh well. I have been meaning to do a Clara inspired outfit (or cosplay) for quite some time, but I never felt like I had the…

    Couple Style: St. Patrick’s Day

I can’t type much today; I’ve got a sleeping baby in my arms. Which is not a bad reason. These were our St. Patrick’s day outfits for the brief time I was out of the house; we went to my parents’ for dinner, and snapped pictures next to the beautiful flowering tree in their yard. My husband is fresh from work. He called this his “lazy style” because he neglected to zip his boots and has disheveled hair. We tested taking jumping pictures, as you can see. My husband says, and I quote, “You look like a… farting fairy.” You can see how my confidence is continually boosted by this…
