The River and the Rocks | Adventure

Yesterday, we went up to Green Mountain to hike to the river. We didn’t get a lot of pictures, but I did get to shoot a little video of our adventure. Deciding what to wear was easy; this blue dress basically feels like a tee, and my colorful tennis shoes were a must. Maybe it’s a little funny to be wearing a dress on a hike, but hey: I would have been way more uncomfortable in jeans! And probably a bit too warm, too. Asa absolutely loved the river. He wanted to “take a bath” in every little stream leading up to the river, and then was obsessed with throwing…

    Adventure: mini-hike in Banner Forest

About two miles away from our house is a huge forest park (635 acres, guys) that I rarely venture into because… bears. For real. But my husband wants to film a few scenes for the short movie he’s working on in the forest, so we decided to take a little “hike.” Which was really more trail-walking, because there is no real hiking up hills in Banner Forest. It’s really a gorgeous piece of land; dense trees, wild undergrowth, well tended pathways, and a maze of trails that can lead you literally anywhere. To me, it’s a bit scary, but I’m probably just paranoid. There was one incident of a bear…

    Twanoh State Park

I apologize ahead of time because this is going to be a REALLY photo-heavy post. We took these pictures right before I re-dyed my hair, and I was too impatient (as always) to share them before I shared my new haircolor. I had nearly forgotten about them! But I was sick yesterday, and I’m lazy today, so here we are, finally. I’ll try to keep it down with the pictures, but… a few weeks ago, we had this fall adventure in a gorgeous park, and I love so many of the pictures… so it’ll be hard. Twanoh State Park is really close to where we’re currently living, and we’ve driven…

How to Pack for a Six Month Stay

So as I have mentioned, my husband and I are moving out to a friend’s house to house-sit for six months, starting today. We’ll be there until February, during the coldest months of the year, and I didn’t want to bring my entire wardrobe with me (okay, it’s more like my husband would have killed me if I did…) so last night I spent a few hours going through my closet and dresser, and pulling out everything to asses whether it should come or stay. I had only one criteria: it had to be fall/winter in colors and style (warmth). My first step, after I had thrown everything on the…

    Camping

This week might be a quiet one from me — on Thursday morning, my beloved 91-year-old grandma had a stroke, and as she lived alone no one found her until Friday afternoon. She is still hanging on, but half of her brain is dead, half of her body is paralyzed, and there is no hope for her to recover. So, while we all wait to see what happens and cherish these last few days with her, I will just leave you with the pictures from my family’s camping trip a few weeks ago. Enjoy! Happy Monday!
