Gingham and stripes and dots, oh my!

I’ve been feeling really bored with getting dressed lately. Maybe it’s the lack of a huge and varied closet since we moved, maybe it’s that everything has been controlled by ease-of-nursing, but everything I’ve been wearing has gotten plain and modern and uninspiring to me. And there have been other things going on too; little, almost unconscious things. I’ve been feeling unsure about my weight lately, and my current body shape. That post-pregnancy confidence with having my waist back has morphed into a mild awareness that my belly has gone mommy-soft (not that it was ever, ever flat) and is bigger than it used to be, and my hip-to-boob ratio…

I only like bugs when they’re turquoise and big enough to sit on.

Don’t forget, I’m changing my url on Friday. Everything stays here, but you’ll have to re-bookmark me, or type in eccentricowl.wordpress.com, as I can’t afford to buy the automatic redirect package.   Details: Cardigan($5), Target; Shirt($6), New York&Co.; Skirt ($12.97), thrifted (Forever 21); Shoes ($10), Walmart; Approximate outfit cost: $33.97  I don’t have much to say today. My mom and I went to the fabric store, and I got a beautiful pattern… but every single fabric I wanted to use didn’t have enough. I suck at picking out good fabrics. And then we went to my favorite restaurant and ate this: I love gyros. They are without a doubt my favorite food.Ever.…

    Clothes, Books, and Owls

Since I’ll be gone all day tomorrow and probably won’t have time to blog, I’m going to do Saturday’s Fashions today. The outfit above is what I will most likely wear tomorrow (most likely because… I tend to change my mind last minute. If I do change my mind, I’ll do my best to have someone take a picture of my outfit.) Although looking at it now, I think I’ll probably wear different shoes. Maybe boots? I don’t know. I’m not decisive right now. I LOVE this cardigan. It’s the second clothing item that I’ve gotten with birthday money (the first was the navy dress from yesterday’s post.), and……

    Books, skulls, and cats.

You know, Wednesday should be Writing day. Because… y’know. WW. And then it could be Wednesday’s Weekly Writing Challenge. WWWC. Has a ring to it, doesn’t it? Okay. Nevermind. Not to bring a bit of depression to this ramble, but it has been exactly one week and a day since my nephew’s stillbirth.  I really don’t know what else to call that day- it wasn’t exactly the day of his birth OR his death. But it feels like it’s been forever since December 28th, and I don’t know if this has to do with the high emotions of the day or that it’s already a new year. It does help…

One of them was breathtaking. The other one was mind-numbingly stupid.

I should probably preface this by saying that I do not read a lot of books, contrary to what a lot of people seem to think. This doesn’t mean I don’t love reading- I do. I would much rather get lost in a really good book than get lost in a movie. I just don’t find many books that have a good plot, well developed characters, and an entertaining enough narrative to keep me reading until the end. This would be the reason why I have started a great number of books in the past few months and only actually finished one or two. It’s also why I am usually…
