Striped shirt, polka dot skirt, and lots of bows

This is what I wore for my birthday lunch date with my mama (and these are the flowers my husband brought me). I’ve been wanting to mix these three items for quite a while, but an outfit like this deserves an actual place gone to (unlike most days, where I get dressed for… uh… Asa… and my husband when he gets home…) and not just getting dressed for the sake of blogging. Which, yes, sometimes I do that. Posting a blog post is motivation for getting dressed some days. One of my goals for this year is to get dressed daily even if I am not going anywhere. Honestly, being…

Vintage cherry print dress and heart shaped glasses

Do you know what I love best about big sunglasses? The fact that they allow me to completely forgo my usual makeup routine and just throw on some red lipstick and be done with it. I am all for going makeup free, but I do always feel like I’m cheating y’all if I’m that lazy while cooking up a blog post, so I rarely go makeup free in pictures. Plus, admit it: it does look better to be waring a bit of foundation (if you need your skin evened out like I do) and some mascara. Photographs are not always kind. But today, I had to run out the door…

    Polkadot skirt and Pregnancy

I have found my skirt soul-mate. This is the first impulse purchase I have ever made online. Ever. Usually, when I see gorgeous clothing online, I think “it’s so pretty,  but I would want to try that on first” or “it’s so pretty, but $x amount for a dress is just out of my spending budget.” But this skirt, you guys. I saw it, I shared it on Facebook with many exclamation points, and then I remembered I had some carefully saved up Paypal money meant for nothing but spending on pretty things. And I bought it. Within about five minutes of seeing it. (I came, I saw, I purchased.…

    Valentine’s Day Lookbook: Bohemian

Today I began my journey in the No Shampoo world. Since it’s the first day I’ve needed to wash my hair since I last shampooed, I took the advice of many sites I read and washed with a cheap clarifying shampoo first, to rid my hair of silicone before I go into baking soda directly. I conditioned with ACV, though, and my hair smells normal; not like vinegar t all. In fact, it smells pretty darn good! I noticed right away that I have more volume than when I shampooed and conditioned with regular products, and the ends of my hair where I’ve got splits and generally need trimming were…

Valentine’s Day Look: Retro Red Florals

Hello! I feel as though I’ve been gone so long that I’ve forgotten how to blog. This last week has been a crazy one; we moved back into my parents’ basement, and all week I have been working hard to get things organized, get rid of stuff, and furiously cleaning because apparently now that I’m over morning sickness (which lasted only three weeks, but was much more intense this time) and over the horrible chest cold I caught from Asa, nesting has already set in and I want to clean. every. single. thing. I’m selling a few items from my closet — some of it vintage, most of it not–…
