    Introducing: Evangeline Rose

Evangeline (Evie) Rose was born yesterday morning at 5:45am, a fashionable ten days late. She’s 9 pounds, 21 inches long, and has a big head just like her brother did. We are, obviously, very smitten. Bloglovin|Facebook|Twitter|Pinterest|Instagram|Fiction Press|Etsy|Photography P.S. Because everyone asks: Evie rhymes with Stevie, and Evangeline is pronounced “-een” at the end, not “eye-n”.

    Fierce Love

Can you feel my love through the camera? Because it is there, this fierce love, for the darkness of your lashes and the dimples in your cheeks. I need to capture every moment of you, my darling child; the way your fingers move and explore; the shine in your eyes as you look at me; the top of your head and its soft hair; the roundness of your face with its baby cheeks; the pucker of your lips as you think. You are beautiful. I would stay in this moment forever, mundane as it is with grapes and hotdogs and cheese; you, testing each piece of food with your fingers…

Mom Life: When the Days Are Long

Today was shaping up to be one of those days. It started just after breakfast, but I felt it as soon as I woke up. It was going to be one of those days when you just know you won’t get through the day without at least one emotional breakdown. I had wondered if it would be. Last night was his first night with a “broken” pacifier, his first night of trial with the tip cut off so that it no longer worked. I expected a fight, yet all we got was a few minutes of his attempts to make the binky work, then a nonchalant tossing it aside every…

Mom Life: Crayons and Little Boys who Grow Up Too Fast

This week will probably be a very slow and quiet one around here (as the last few weeks have been) because we’re MOVING! We finally found a nice little space to call our own that we can afford with just my husband’s income, and all this week we’ll be packing up and taking things over so that hopefully by the weekend we can move our beds and be settled in to our new home. And then, I hope to start a new series of posts outside of fashion called (as the title of this post reveals) “Mom Life.”  Which pretty much explains itself: snapshots and blogs about real mom life…

Mixing polka dots and florals… again.

Yesterday morning, Asa woke up hysterically crying and clingy. This is really unusual for him (I’ve heard some kids just always wake up on the wrong side of the bed, but he usually wakes up chirping “hi! hi! hi!”), so I knew right away that he was sick and expected a day full of runny poops and barfing. All day, though, he just remained lethargic, barely ate, drank lots of water, and only wanted to sleep and cuddle. Throughout the day his temperature stayed around 98 degrees, so I wasn’t too worried. But last night, before my husband and I clocked out for the night, we went in for one…
