Animal print, tags, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

First of all: yes. I am wearing a Christmas shirt in the summer. Shut up, I like it. And you can’t really tell in real life unless you stare at my chest for long enough to be considered creepy.

I just felt like being a little quirky today, to tell the truth. And there was this one article in InStyle where someone paired a printed skirt with a tee shirt, and I haven’t done that in a while, so voila! I only have like three graphic tees, and this is one of them.

I know, my outfit-planning is so detailed…

Second: Marie tagged me, and since I haven’t done that in forever, here goes!

The rules: list 11 random facts about yourself, answer 11 questions, and tag 4 people to answer 11 more questions that you make up.

11 things about me you may or may not know:

1. Mr. Owl is the only man I have ever dated, or will ever date.

2. I once worked as a laborer on a construction site in New Mexico… and am now the office assistant/secretary at a reconstruction/restoration company. It seems I can’t get away from construction. It’s in the family.

3. If I could steal the style of only one blogger, it would be from Teika of Selective Potential.

4. I have never been to Disney Land.

5. I am allergic to fragranced shampoo. It gives me welts. But… I use it anyway because I like to smell good.

6. I almost cried when I saw the preview for The Hobbit at the IMAX. Yes, I am that excited. And that nerdy. And that emotional.

7. I never thought Christian Bale, James Franco, or Leonardo DiCaprio were attractive and don’t see the appeal.

8. I wear my mom’s turquoise ring that she got in seventh grade almost every day. If I had a signature piece, that would probably be it.

9. I don’t want to be proposed to on one knee, and I’d love to have something other than the standard diamond engagement ring. Not that I’ll complain on either account… but you know… I’ve never dreamed of the one-knee proposal thing. And my fantasy engagement ring looks something more like this.

10. I once considered naming my cat Ethelwyn, which was made up of Elvish components. But my brother decided he’d call her “Ethel” and I didn’t like that, so I went with Guinevere instead. And I have never once called her that.

11. I like sugar-free Cinnamon Dolce flavoring better than regular.

Marie’s 11 Questions:

1) If you could dye your hair any color for a day, with no judgment from anyone else, what color would you pick? I would pick this. Definitely. I’ve always wanted to try fire-engine red hair, but I’ve never done it because I don’t want to permanently damage my hair and it would require a LOT  of bleaching.

2) If you got a tattoo what would it be? (Even if you would never normally get one!) Possibly predictable, but I’d get an owl on the inside of my left wrist. And I really like this one.

3) Favorite quote? … I don’t have one. Is that boring? Probably.

4) Worst book/movie you ever read/saw? Book: The Princess Bride. I hated that book with a passion. I love the movie, but the book was terrible!

5) If you could go back in time and change something what would it be? (It doesn’t have to involve you) I’d change fashion so that it would still be acceptable to prance around in a Victorian ballgown, because… I mean, what girl doesn’t want to be able to do her errands while dressed to the nines? (Okay… maybe not every girl wants that. But I do!)

6) What’s your most improbable dream/goal? Probably become a published author. Not that it’s really improbable, just that it feels improbable to me. Maybe someday I’ll publish books (if I can ever finish them!), but it feels like I’ll never really get there.

7) What was the last book you read? The Slippery Slope in The Series of Unfortunate Events.

8) Why did you start your blog? Because I wanted to be able to write somewhere other than Fiction Press, I was bored, and I hate writing in journals by hand. So I thought, hey, why not start a blog? And it just evolved.

9) What’s your favorite newspaper comic? Either Peanuts or Garfield.

10) Hipster or Celebrity? If I had to be one? That’s tough… but probably celebrity. Because I’d have access to amazing clothes and the funds to travel the world if I wanted to. (I would rather not be either, though.)

11) What rhymes with orange? Nothing… unless you take this list. 😀

I tag: Elena of Room 334, Jess of Animated Cardigan,  Arathi at Love, Miffalicious, and Bethie at Hear A Snippet Here (even though she was already tagged.)

The questions: 1. What superhero would you be? 2. What color are your favorite pair of socks? 3. Polkadots or florals? 4. If you could live in any book, which book would it be? 5. Where would you go right now if you could go anywhere? 6. What makes up a perfect day? 7. It’s raining. You are…? 8. What’s one thing that always makes you happy? 9. Which super villain would you be, and why? 10. What is your favorite thing about you? 11. Do you have a signature item?

 {Thrifted} Shirt: $0.99 | Skirt:  $4.99
{Target} Flats: $12.98 | Belt: came with a skirt
{H&M} Earrings (not seen) $2

Bear with me as the blog theme fluctuates. I would really love to keep the two sidebars thing, but I currently have other problems with this theme that I can’t figure out how to fix. So the look might change a bit!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

Oh my goodness!! I love how you pair things that I would never think go together and make it work! You’re adorable, girlie. 🙂

I already answered Marie’s questions in my draft post for this tag, but your answers for 1 and 5 are so good, I have half a mind to steal them. But I won’t! I’ll be good and stick with what I put. 🙂 I love the idea of dressing up to go out. Double squee for Victorian gowns! My manager (who is also a hanging out and movie watching and going to Asian markets friend) is always looking fabulous, even if we’re just meeting the other girls for drinks. Her makeup is done to perfection, she wears sparkly headbands and jewelry, heels, skirts… It’s quite inspiring. Especially after working 30+ hours in polo shirts and black pants most weeks. 😛 She says her only requirement for a husband is that he dresses well. She’ll totally get on board this bringing back Victorian fashion. I also love dinner gowns from the 20’s. We need to bring those back, too. And every house has to have a giant, curving staircase so after we ladies dress for dinner, we can make our grand entrance via said staircase. 😉

I have never been to Disneyland, either. And I live in California! So… that’s kind of sad. But hopefully next November, that will change! Okay. Now to add your questions to my post. 😀 Yay, more questions!!

I love the tshirt, and you’re right, you don’t notice Rudolph unless you really take time to look! x

  • Picco

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Picco. Picco’s favorite magazine of all-time was InStyle, and she particularly enjoyed the August issue. She was currently reading it when she noticed that Eccentric Owl had blogged. About 5 minutes earlier she had read page 130 about pairing graphic tees with printed skirts. Picco then saw that Mara/Kristina was wearing a graphic tee…With. A. Printed. Skirt. CREEPY OR WHAT?!

Oh and you’re not allowed to hate on me for not reading Jane Eyre, because you’re not intelligent enough to realize that Christian Charles Philip Bale is quite possibly the most attractive man to ever grace this planet. Or any other planet, for that matter. There’s no possible way that you can watch Newsies and not be totally in love with him. So now we’re even.

    • Eccentric Owl

Hahaha! For real? That’s awesome! I love InStyle. Especially lately, they’ve had some really awesome articles.

Well, it’s most likely I don’t find him attractive because he reminds me of my brothers. So that’s a little weird. I like his acting skills, though. And Newsies. So y’know.

  • Jess

Rudolph! Awww, I love it. I made the embarrassing (or at least I heard that’s how I’m supposed to feel) mistake of wearing a Penn State graphic tee to do errands today. I thought we had moved past that but I guess not! I don’t condone what happened there or how it was handled, but I do support the school and the kids who go there. It’s so funny what a t-shirt can convey to people. Buuuut anyway. Off to formulate some responses to some questions…

  • Meanz Chan

Oh my gosh! I love your printed skirt and with a graphic tee? Fabulous! I also love that your wearing a Christmas tee. It’s a cute one! I also think I would want to steal Tieka’s style, and really?! I think James Franco and Leo are so handsome. I know quite a few people that don’t think so, but I still get surprised every time!

  • Tashia G.

I love a tee with a printed skirt. The leopard makes this outfit extra fun. Also, how cool that got proposed to not long after you wrote about proposals!

  • Jamie Rose

Um I love this outfit. I love the Christmas t-shirt in the summer and your blue leopard print skirt is amazing! These colors look so great together too!
