Starlight in the Daytime | Feat We Love Colors and Grace Karin

As if to make up for the fact that last week’s Grace Karin dress photoshoot didn’t go as planned at all, this week’s photoshoot went exactly as I had hoped! I have been eyeing this particular spot for quite some time — perhaps months — but I’ve never quite felt brave enough to stop when the light is good. The reason being, it’s a building right on the corner of a VERY busy 4-way-stop, and at rush hour a line of cars snakes up the hill and there is no break to the stream. Even more busy than the sidewalk where I stopped to take photos with the trees, and…

On Wearing Hats and Colorful Tights

We Love Colors sent me tights for review; all opinions and thoughts are my own! Some affiliate links may be used in this post; if you click and purchase, I’ll earn a small commission which goes to help support this blog.  While my Irish heritage is likely generations upon generations back, and I am mostly German in truth, I can never quite resist pulling out my best garb in celebration of St. Patrick’s day. For a reason little known to anyone, really, I’ve always been desperately in love with Ireland, its history, and its beauty, and I’ve always wished I were a bit more Irish than I really am. If…

Vintage parrot sweater, vintage sweater skirt, and blogging more

Birds of a Feather I almost didn’t post these photos today. This morning I was thinking that, since it’s the first day of spring, I would put on a floral dress in spring colors and be a vintage spring vision. But this sweater called my name. And then as I was taking photos and reviewing them in my camera, I started to feel extremely insecure about the silhouette. I rarely wear fitted silhouettes or waistlines that are lower than my natural waist, and what looked awesome in a mirror seemed to look a bit clunky and odd on camera. I started to feel bad about my figure and my clothing…

Four Ways to Wear a Vintage Printed Blouse

I am one of those people who gravitates towards prints, as we all know. And most prints, I find pretty easy to style — patterned skirts? No problem! Floral dresses? I have and wear about 40 (#noshame). Patterned tees? Generally basics, to me. But when I happen upon an unusual patterned vintage button up blouse, suddenly… I’m stumped. It’s a piece I don’t often style, even though I am drawn to and own at least 7 of them. I used to think collars fought with my hair (when it was long), and somehow pattern in this type of garment got intimidating rather than fun. So today I decided to grab…

Vintage Oaxacan dress, bare feet, and flowers

I meant to post one of my backlogged posts today. But then this dress happened. I suppose I should have styled it yesterday for Cinco de Mayo, but when I slipped it over my head I realized it smelled like an old building in the worst way (confession, I tend to wear my thrifted clothes at least once before washing, unless they look or smell dirty…), so I soaked it (I didn’t want to risk the washer) and hung it to dry last night so that I could wear it today instead. (You can listen to the story behind this dress in yesterday’s thrift haul. It starts at 13:45 if…
