His&Hers: Vintage plaid and modern sparkles

When my husband finished getting dressed today, one of the first things he said to me after noting that it might be our last chance to get dressed up pre-baby was “don’t you want to blog about me?” I had to laugh. Because when he walked out in these vintage plaid pants and the vintage suit jacket/vest that I bought him (that jacket and vest? I found them, together, for ONE DOLLAR. Fifty cents a piece, you guys. I can’t even.) the first thing I thought was “he should just start his own mens fashion blog.” Or maybe I should start one for him. I’ve never desired for my blog…

Mom Life: Crayons and Little Boys who Grow Up Too Fast

This week will probably be a very slow and quiet one around here (as the last few weeks have been) because we’re MOVING! We finally found a nice little space to call our own that we can afford with just my husband’s income, and all this week we’ll be packing up and taking things over so that hopefully by the weekend we can move our beds and be settled in to our new home. And then, I hope to start a new series of posts outside of fashion called (as the title of this post reveals) “Mom Life.”  Which pretty much explains itself: snapshots and blogs about real mom life…

    Afternoon cuteness

Yesterday and today have been unusually warm (around 70-75 yesterday, and 65ish today), so I’ve been trying to take advantage and get both of us outside. Yesterday I made the mistake of walking to the beach, which was fine on the way there, but on the way back there is one very, very long hill up to our house (I’m talking, like 1/2 a mile of a hill, which is a lot when you’re 18 weeks pregnant, have to pee, it’s 75 degrees out, and you’re pushing a stroller with a 25lb toddler in it). I also made the mistake of telling my parents I was good to walk back…

    Baby life: bath time

A few snapshots of one of Asa’s favorite activities. Someone wet through his diaper all the way up to his chin this morning, so a bath was in order. Recently, I have found myself deliberating over whether I want to share certain pictures of him online. There is nothing inherently offensive or wrong with sharing baby rolls and baby butts, and I have no issue with other moms sharing their adorable kids running free in their birthday suits, at all. But I had a picture (an adorable one) of him anticipating the bath, from the back, and I even had it uploaded in this post… and I found myself wondering…

    Adventure: mini-hike in Banner Forest

About two miles away from our house is a huge forest park (635 acres, guys) that I rarely venture into because… bears. For real. But my husband wants to film a few scenes for the short movie he’s working on in the forest, so we decided to take a little “hike.” Which was really more trail-walking, because there is no real hiking up hills in Banner Forest. It’s really a gorgeous piece of land; dense trees, wild undergrowth, well tended pathways, and a maze of trails that can lead you literally anywhere. To me, it’s a bit scary, but I’m probably just paranoid. There was one incident of a bear…
