    Mom Style: Leggings Are(n’t) Pants

So I was always firmly on the side of “leggings are not pants” argument. You can totally be more creative than that, I thought. Skirts are just as easy. Dresses are just one piece. Even jeans can be okay, when styled nicely. And for the longest time, I looked at girls who wore leggings for pants with a certain amount of fashion disdain. They were so not trying hard enough. In my defense, most of the girls I see (except for bloggers) wearing leggings as pants tend to wear sheer leggings, leggings that are way too tight, and/or leggings that are just… not meant to be pants. I mean, I’ll…

    Bunnies and bare faces

As a blogger who is also currently breastfeeding, I really try my hardest never to post outfits that I am not actually wearing — say, outfits I can only wear in the three hours between feedings because they’re high-necked dresses/really stiff tee shirts/not button up/not stretchy… whatever the case, I only post those outfits if I actually wore them for an event (wedding) or to church. I’ve seen a few new-mom bloggers who continue to wear dresses with high necks and no way to breastfeed in them, and while I totally get wanting to dress up even for a few hours, it’s just not realistic! I prefer to stay real.…

    Valentine’s Day Lookbook: Coffee Date

Well, after what feels like a really, really long time, I am back! And I have a baby, and different hair (mommy makeover, yay!), and a new body (well… not pregnant), and so many things to share that I don’t even know where to begin! As I’m writing this, it’s been exactly two weeks since I’ve had Asa, and motherhood really isn’t exactly what everyone says it is. Other than the “you’ll be tired all the time” part. That… definitely true. But I don’t feel like it has dramatically changed my life. It’s just… normal. Normal to be looking over at the baby currently sleeping on the couch next to…

    Determination

You guys have no idea how difficult it was to take pictures today. I mean, getting out of bed is hard. Getting dressed in real clothes is a victory. And putting on my own shoes? That, my dears, is almost impossible. I mean, when you’re only six days away from your due date, it’s a miracle when you see your feet, much less reach them. But after the struggle of getting clothes and shoes on, I triumphantly came downstairs only to realize that 1. it was raining, and 2. the tripod is in the car. Which my husband drove to work. Still, I was determined. After all, this might be…

    Simplicity and pregnancy myths

And the dark hair is back! Let me just put one thing straight right now: yes, it is completely safe to dye your hair while pregnant. I’m surprised by how many people have asked or straight out condemned me for doing it, but I suppose it’s just one of those things that people never bother to look up first! And I definitely did. Bleaching your hair is warned against, though there are no signs that it’s ever harmed a baby, but ammonia-free dye to a darker color is perfectly fine. Thankfully, because I love having darker hair in the fall, and I would have been stuck with a bad hair…
