    A Farewell to Arms

Yesterday morning was probably the last time I will ever nurse Asa. It’s not a decision I made willingly, and I’m incredibly brokenhearted about it. But over the last three months, my milk supply has been dropping steadily, and nothing I tried — lactation tea, lactation cookies, staying hydrated, eating more, nursing more often — helped. My body just decided it’s time to stop with the breastfeeding. Plus, Asa is getting much more independent, so most of the time he just wasn’t interested in nursing so much as feeding from the bottle. By himself.  The night before I knew it would be the last time, I was pretty broken up…

These are a few of my favorite things

Today has been a rough day. I don’t usually dump my moods on the blog, because I like it to be a relatively positive place and also I dislike being a Debbie Downer, but today, you guys… it’s been one of those days where I just wanted to be done with it before I even got up. It started at about 2am this morning with Asa’s waking up and crying because he’d lost his pacifier… and then again at 3:30am, and then he finally woke up at 4:30am and whined for a bit until I figured out — 15 minutes later — that he was hungry. Then he woke again…

    Flowering into Spring

I risked death for these pictures. Okay, so that might be exaggerating. But there was a very big bee that kept swarming around my head, and it was all I could do not to run away in fear. Well… walk away slowly in fear. Because running means you get stung. It was very dangerous. Ha!  And then the neighbor got home while I was taking photos, and this tree is in full view of her house and only about fifty feet from where she parks. So that was awkward. Despite the fact that absolutely no strangers have ever questioned what I was doing, and most people act like it’s totally…

    Coming to a close

Well, you guys, it’s the last day of the year! And what better way to end the year than with a fabulous dress? Sunday Millie sent me this adorable 60’s number, and I LOVE it! My husband is skeptical about the fabric– it’s a mixture of satiny and rough — but I told him it doesn’t matter. The pattern is cute, I happen to like the fabric, and it’s one of those awesome tent dresses that can be belted for shape, or left flowing if you’re feeling lazy. I keep thinking I should be writing a deep and thoughtful look back at the year on this last day of 2013,…

    Flowers and mustard

There are so many exciting things coming up right now, it’s hard to know what to start with! I’m almost full-term with pregnancy, it’s almost Christmas, I’m almost done with Dressember, it’s almost time for vacation with my in-laws… I can’t believe all of the things happening. We’ll start with Dressember: I forgot to do a roundup for last week AND the week before, and I missed one day completely (didn’t get dressed, I’ll admit!). And yes, I wear that maroon dress and those boots a LOT. Hey, when you’re this pregnant, repetition is kind of the only option sometimes! That, and it’s almost always raining or otherwise mushy and…
