    Owl Always Love You

Whenever my husband takes pictures with me, I inevitably get silly and forget how to pose. I think that even though I’ve been blogging for somewhere around four years now (well, fashion blogging; I blogged about other things long before that), I still feel awkward when people I know in real life know about it. Or talk to me about it. Or ask how many followers I have (no idea, honestly! I rarely look) or whether something I’m wearing is from a sponsor, or make a big deal out of a package I’ve gotten from someone because of blogging… It just feels odd. I think because my online presence —…

    Dressember is Here!

It’s December! I cannot believe we are here already, but I am so excited to participate in another Dressember. If you weren’t around last year and are wondering, Dressember is a fashion challenge for charity: women (and men, I suppose) wear a dress every day of the month in December to raise money towards freeing enslaved and abused women all over the world. 100% of the donated funds go directly to the International Justice Mission, an organization that helps abolish slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of oppression. I found Dressember last year through a sponsor, and I was immediately drawn to help! It is a cause that resonates deeply with…

    The Nerdy Owl

There are several things about today that make me incredibly happy. First, this dress. It has owls and bunnies and roses all over it, which are a few of my favorite things; it’s yellow, which is swiftly becoming my favorite color, and I am pretty sure that it will be working with me through every single season. It’s the perfect year-round dress. (My only complaints are that it’s quite staticky because of the fabric, which probably wouldn’t bother most people but I hate getting shocked, and it’s fitted enough of a top that I can’t quite lift my arms up all the way. Small things, though.) Secondly, the weather! It…

    You’re a Hoot

This weekend, my husband and I are going to start in on another short film, this time just for fun. He’s had this idea to do a Red Riding Hood story for a while, but since we have no deadlines it’s just been simmering on a back burner and we’ve been procrastinating. But he wants to start making monthly short films, so hopefully we’ll be getting into the habit of filming more often! As always, I’m in charge of makeup and costumes. My niece, who will be Red Riding Hood, already has an amazing hooded cape we can use, but I’ve got to find the rest of her outfit as…

    Florals and Giraffes

Well, I am officially no longer nursing Asa. It’s a weird thought; I haven’t nursed him for two days, and I haven’t suffered any aftereffects that I wondered about – engorgement being the biggest one. But we transitioned to the bottle over three months time, nursing less and bottle-feeding more out of necessity rather than choice, so I’m sure that helped tremendously. But now I have to… I don’t know, figure out who I am again. Motherhood is such a rollercoaster of fluctuating identities. You first become “the pregnant one” in your circle of friends (well, I did, being the only pregnant one in my and my husband’s circle… and……
