    Valentine’s Day Lookbook: Coffee Date

Well, after what feels like a really, really long time, I am back! And I have a baby, and different hair (mommy makeover, yay!), and a new body (well… not pregnant), and so many things to share that I don’t even know where to begin! As I’m writing this, it’s been exactly two weeks since I’ve had Asa, and motherhood really isn’t exactly what everyone says it is. Other than the “you’ll be tired all the time” part. That… definitely true. But I don’t feel like it has dramatically changed my life. It’s just… normal. Normal to be looking over at the baby currently sleeping on the couch next to…

    Sparkle and Shine

I can’t believe Dressember is almost over! That means my pregnancy is drawing close to its end, too, which is starting to be a welcome thought. I figure if this kid just holds out until next Saturday, then he can come whenever he wants. But I really want to go on vacation with my husband’s family the 1st-4th, so I don’t want him to be TOO early. Haha! Just a week or so. And can you believe it’s almost 2014? Crazy. I didn’t make any resolutions last year, and this year I think my only resolution is to stick with Paleo. I haven’t been eating clean during the holidays, and…

    Maroon, love, and baby names

If you missed it on Instagram yesterday, I posted baby Owl’s first and middle initials, which are A and R, to see what people would guess his name was going to be. My favorite guesses were Atticus Rex, Aragorn Romulus, and my friend who said “The scientific name of the Unspotted Saw-Whet Owl is Aegolius Ridgwayi. Guys… I figured it out” And, of course, with Mr. Owl’s family, as soon as we gave the initials one of his sisters guessed the first name right away, and I discovered that my husband does NOT have a poker face. He turns bright red. It’s pretty funny! But his actual name is Asa…

    Jean jackets and floral dresses

You guys, dare I say it? Yes. I dare. SPRING IS HERE! Given, it’s still unpleasantly cold (say, upper 40’s and damp;t he dampness makes it unpleasant) in the morning, but it has been full-on sunny and sixty in the afternoon, and I love it! It’s making me long for summer already, though. Is that bad? I got this jean jacket the other day after seeing a few different lovely bloggers sporting jean jackets, and I’m so glad I did! I don’t even know how to describe what my spring style is going towards– floral, maybe more modern, with lots of tied-up shirts and high-waisted skirts. It’s definitely changing, but…

    Living in a dream

“… Her own  native Heaven More clearly she mirror’d , as life’s troubled dream Wore away; and love sigh’d into rest, like a stream That breaks its heart over wild rocks toward the shore Of the great sea which hushes it up evermore With its little wild wailing.” — Owen Meredith, Lucille      I might not be able to blog tomorrow, so I thought I’d show you the beauty I found at the thrift store for a whopping $6.50. I have to say, this dress makes me want even more to live in the bygone age of corsets and gowns and masquerade evenings. Seriously. Why don’t we do that any more?…
