    Coming to a close

Well, you guys, it’s the last day of the year! And what better way to end the year than with a fabulous dress? Sunday Millie sent me this adorable 60’s number, and I LOVE it! My husband is skeptical about the fabric– it’s a mixture of satiny and rough — but I told him it doesn’t matter. The pattern is cute, I happen to like the fabric, and it’s one of those awesome tent dresses that can be belted for shape, or left flowing if you’re feeling lazy. I keep thinking I should be writing a deep and thoughtful look back at the year on this last day of 2013,…

    Dressember 2013

Yesterday, as I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I came across this post from Cut and Chic vintage, and it sparked my interest. I have been thinking about more ways to utilize blogging in positive ways, so I did a little more research about it. The campaign she posted about is called Dressember, and it is an awesome way to use an interest in fashion to impact the world for good. If you missed it on Instagram yesterday, I posted baby Owl’s first and middle initials, which are A and R, to see what people would guess his name was going to be. My favorite guesses were Atticus Rex, Aragorn Romulus, and my friend who said “The scientific name of the Unspotted Saw-Whet Owl is Aegolius Ridgwayi. Guys… I figured it out” And, of course, with Mr. Owl’s family, as soon as we gave the initials one of his sisters guessed the first name right away, and I discovered that my husband does NOT have a poker face. He turns bright red. It’s pretty funny! But his actual name is Asa…

    Burgundy, mustard, and a skull

Do you ever have one of those outfits where as soon as you put it on, you just feel absolutely beautiful? I hope you all do. Because those outfits are the best. This is one of them, for me! I had been eying this dress from Target’s maternity section for quite a while based solely on the color, but the nearly-$30 price tag deterred me from ever trying it on, as did the obviously body conscious silhouette. Until, that is, I went to Target in search of a good maternity sweater, saw the dress hanging with the 70% off clearance items, and decided “ah, might as well try it on!”…

    Pregnancy update (also, it’s winter!)

As I mentioned yesterday, I am officially eight months pregnant. This means I have eight weeks left to go in this whole journey of pregnancy, which is a thought that seems incredibly amazing to me. Have I really been pregnant for eight months already? Is it really only going to be — give or take– eight weeks until I have an actual real baby in my arms to take care of??? Generally, I don’t feel too overwhelmed by that prospect. I’ve wanted to be a mother since I was like… five… so finally being at that point twenty years later, it’s more exciting than scary. Of course, once I’m actually…
