    Girl on fire

I finally read The Hunger Games a week ago, and today (inspired by Salazar and her always-amazing book-review outfits) I decided to do a Hunger Games inpsired outfit, and give you a sort-of review. I say “sort-of” because it’s been a week and I really should have written a review the day I finished the book. Or at least the day after. The first thing I can tell you is that I liked it. It wasn’t as grotesque or brutal as I had imagined (given the premise and all), and the end of the book was a fantastic way to get me wanting to read the second one (which I…

Oh. Em. Gee. A book review on a TUESDAY!

So I may have just lowered my perceived age by about five more years with that title. I don’t actually say “oh em gee”… or type “omg”… ever. Except for just then. The typing part, I mean. And I suppose I have said “oh em gee” in mockery of people I know who actually do say “oh em gee” in all seriousness. After which I usually roll my eyes and shake my head and then realize that I shouldn’t be scoffing at them because I do a lot of things that are wayyyy more immature than saying “oh em gee.” Ahem. ANYWAY. I read a book. In time to review it. Not…

Oh, hey. It’s a book review!

Firstly, I just have to say that I really like the cover. It’s so pretty… Actually, I suppose I should probably explain my absence and no post yesterday- I had… a sick. Not really sure what it was, but it was yucky. I had a sore throat and a fever, and spent most of the day sleeping, aching, and not wanting to be touched as my skin gets incredibly oversensitive when I’ve got a fever. I was even feeling too sick to watch Chuck. I mean… yeah. It was bad. I’m still feeling a little woozy headed today, so if I say something that doesn’t make sense, blame it on…

Book Review: No Country for Old Men

I have a confession to make: I didn’t read the whole book. And there are three reasons for that: One, it reads almost exactly like the movie plays out and I’ve seen the movie about five times… in the last month (okay, so it may be one of my favorite movies). Two, it’s written in such a way that if I don’t finish it in the first sitting, I’ll never finish it. It’s only interesting if you start from the beginning and read all the way through. And Three, I’m an impatient and slightly (okay, very) distractable reader. The book begins with the narration of Sheriff Bell, and is written…

Ding, dong, the witch is dead!

Uuugggh. Sorry.  Just had to get that off my chest. I would do a short premise, but… I can’t. There’s too much going on in the book. So in short, it’s about the Wicked Witch of the West. From the land of Oz. Which we probably all know because of the movie The Wizard of Oz. I have heard so much gushing about how amazing and wonderful and awesome the musical Wicked is, and I was really looking forward to reading the book. After all, if the play is so amazing, the book has to be, too… right? I mean, it was recommended to me by a friend who loves…
