One of the things I love about having a blog is that it allows me to wear and share things that I can’t wear for more than the time it takes to shoot the outfit, or I just don’t wear because… still trying to get over that inner fear of being different in public. This outfit falls into the former group (and maybe a little bit into the latter, but mostly the former.) The dress itself is made of material that stretches, but the lining does not. And possibly our last photoshoot together before Asa is born! I’ve got 9 days until my due date, he’s dropped, I’m feeling very, very sporadic contractions (as in, 6am then 12:30pm one day, then nothing till 7pm the next day, then something like 3pm the next day…) and everything feels like it’s gearing up to have this baby soon. Yesterday, I was browsing through my Pinterest board of old outfits, and I came across a few images that made me really miss not being pregnant. I started to feel all those silly feelings you get when you see a skinnier version of yourself– less glamorous, less confident, less beautiful — and you guys, all of those feelings are ridiculous. 1960’s Houndstooth
I could have titled this post “how to create a retro outfit from modern garments”, because despite my love of vintage, nothing in this outfit is older than 3 years. I actually just bought this dress last week, and after having searched for a white lace dress for at least a year, it was a great triumph to find one under $25! Of course, it’s really dangerous for me to own white garments, because not even three hours later, while wearing it, I dropped a piece of sweet-and-sour chicken (yeah, I do occasionally stray from paleo!) on it. Thank goodness for pre-spot solutions. It’s so funny, I have several concerned…

Stars and Stripes
Happy Fourth of July! So far, today has been great for me. I have the day off, which is wonderful (except I’ll have to work tomorrow, which means I can’t stay up too late…), and I slept in till an uprecedented 9:30. You guys, when you’re pregnant, sleeping in is even better. It’s like heaven. The weather isn’t looking too promising but I’m going to have faith in the forecast, which says it’ll be sunny and in the 70’s by one o’clock. I hope. The clouds this morning do allow me to wear this cardigan, but I’m sure I’ll be losing it later. Do you all have any exciting plans…
