    Where the wild roses grow

I think I am now addicted to head accessories, you guys. Wearing the one hat has just led to this feeling that no outfit is quite complete without something on my head. And I love it, because it’s also pushing my style back towards the more retro feel (and sometimes full-out 1950’s) that I really love.I’ve always had this huge struggle with settling into just one style, mostly because I look at other bloggers and think “Oh, I love her sense of style, maybe I should try that!” But this week I’ve realized that I just feel the best when I’m dressed in something that looks very retro, regardless of…

    Giving Thanks

This was my Thanksgiving outfit. I am thankful for twirly skirts, a certain dashing man, and the fact that I’m going to be a married woman in eleven days and I have yet to lose my mind. Although there have been a few emotional breakdowns. But seriously, you guys… I’m going to be married in a week and five days. That is… insane. And exciting. And scary (responsibilities like never before! But the thought of being married to Mr. Owl forever isn’t scary. Just thought I’d clarify). And sometimes overwhelming. And ultimately amazing. And this was the part of the shoot where I tried to strike a model pose and ended…

    The Ocean Shores

Mr. Owl and I took a vacation to the ocean yesterday; it being Labor Day, he had the day off (a rare occasion!), so we took a much-needed trip away from home. I have been wanting and needing to get away for a while. With all the wedding planning now, vacations are even more appreciated! Especially when they’re to the ocean. I have always loved the ocean. We spent almost the entire day there, wasting time laying in the sun that warmed the sand-dunes, listening to the constant roar of ocean, chasing waves and being chased by waves. By the end of the day we were pleasantly tired, mentally rested…

    Home

Yesterday, we were too lazy to go anywhere to take pictures. The whole day was kind of lazy, and neither of us wanted to make the effort to find a better location. So, this is my driveway, where we spent about twenty minutes taking somewhat frustrating pictures because Mr. Owl’s camera was going wonky, and then afterwards we went back inside where I changed into my (newly purchased) really comfortable exercise pants and we played Donkey Kong on the Wii and then watched Captain America. Yes, I know. I lead a glamorous life. I bought a few new skirts on Saturday on an impromptu thrifting trip. This one in particular…

    The nineties called…

I saw this dress at Sarah With a Bow‘s etsy shop, Bridgetown Vintage, and I had to have it. I plan to shorten it to just below the knee, partly because that’s more my style– I want to be able to remix it in the fall and winter with tights (I cannot wait!)– and partly because, as I predicted before I even tried it on, I knew Mr. Owl would not be fond of the length. Unexpectedly, though, he didn’t give me his usual “What do you think it is, 1850?” line. I was disappointed. I like that line. It makes me laugh every time. Instead, though, he looked at me,…
