    Working Girl

I got a job! For which I have to leave in about fifteen minutes, so I can’t say much other than it’s one of my secret dream-jobs… as a receptionist. Given… it’s at a construction office, where the dress code is nonexistent and everyone wears jeans (except me, ha!), but it should be a good job. It’s part time, and I’m most excited about the facts that a) it’s where my daddy works, and b) I will never have to work on the weekends. And also, no more getting up at 2:45am to go to work. 😉 I don’t have time to put the pricing in my pictures, either, but my tights,…

    The perfect outfit.

This is the perfect outfit for several reasons. One, it’s warm. I’m the advocate of always being warm, especially  here where it rains a lot and is usually cloudy. Two, there are pockets in this skirt. Pockets! Pockets are the best. Even if they are a little bit hard to find. Three, there are bright colors. And, if you can believe it, my sweater and tights are even brighter in real life. Four: owls. Do I even have to say it? Owl brooches= happy me. Five, this skirt is twirly. You know me and twirly skirts. I could twirl all day, except I would probably get sick and throw up…

    Crazy Owl Lady

Sometimes, the only way to make a picture look interesting is star effects. It’s still rainy. I  didn’t want to go outside. My room’s lighting is crap. But stars make everything better, right?  Right.  It’s day two of my resolution to write every day for a year. Look over there —> at my fancy widget! (okay, maybe a bit higher. Right below the “Mara Writes” button) I set the goal at 182,500 words because 500 words a day seems pretty easy. I know that some days, like today so far, I may not get to 500 words a day… but I also know that other days, I will exceed that…

    Opposites Attract

I realize I do this pose a lot. So sue me, I like it. I didn’t think I was going to have time to blog today, so I snapped some fast pictures and then my boss called me to tell me that I didn’t have to leave for another two hours. So here we go! I’m taking the chance to blog my outfit. Which I love. I have a shirt that is almost the same color as this one, but this is more… green. And the other one’s a bit more on the yellow side. Also, this one has a tiny useless pocket, and the other one doesn’t. So it’s…

I have the urge to burst into song.

Details: Shirt(unknown), belt ($0.99) and skirt($4.99), thrifted; Shoes($12), Walmart; Earrings ($8), Fred Meyer Approximate outfit cost: $25.98  I told you I’d make up for the lack of pictures yesterday, so prepare yourself to be bombarded. (is it just me, or do I look unnecessarily smug in that first photo?) This is what I wanted to wear today,  but we’re not allowed to wear open-toed shoes at work and the manager isn’t sure what exactly is “family friendly” attire yet, so I opted for the safe route and am wearing jeans and a tee shirt. Again. I’m so tired of jeans. Skirts are WAY more fun.  See? Much more fun. Even when you stop…
