Opposites Attract

I realize I do this pose a lot. So sue me, I like it.

I didn’t think I was going to have time to blog today, so I snapped some fast pictures and then my boss called me to tell me that I didn’t have to leave for another two hours. So here we go! I’m taking the chance to blog my outfit. Which I love.

I have a shirt that is almost the same color as this one, but this is more… green. And the other one’s a bit more on the yellow side. Also, this one has a tiny useless pocket, and the other one doesn’t. So it’s special. I love the contrast of the colors today– I had a different scarf in mind, but it didn’t work with what I wanted to wear (the outfit), so I decided to go with opposing colors. The scarf is from Morrocco again (brought to me by a friend), and my cat has Β had some fights with Β it so sadly it’s got a few snags. But it’s still pretty.

I think these last few days and the last few outfits have been a lot more “me.” I’m finally settling into a style that feels right for me, instead of trying to take someone else’s style and make it mine. I’ve found that I really like simple shirts with patterned skirts, or jeans with a looser top; I’ve been picking up warm sweaters and basic tees like an addict lately, and they work for me. Also, of course, the full skirt with the plaid. Plaid is my basic black.

The only thing I want to change about this outfit is to make the flats into heels. But of course, that’s not practical with my job. So heels are now reserved for days off (when I will wear them with abandon).

It is the PERFECT fall day today. I went through the house this morning complaining that I loved the fall weather but I hate being cold. Our house is always cold. We somehow always find houses that have faulty heating systems, so the furnace is all wonky and we have a pellet stove without pellets. I really want to find a house with a heating system that works, so that in weather like this (and I am wearing a sweater, I just didn’t like it with the pictures) it’s nice and crisp outside and toasty and warm inside. Like it SHOULD be.

And the sunflare in these pictures is KILLING me(in a good way. As in I could die I love the flare so much). It’s such a perfect morning.

I got this brooch from a regular at work. I call him my Old Man, because I’m his favorite and he doesn’t hide it. He’s one of those regulars who would probably be creepy if he was younger, but since he’s self-proclaimed “old, fat, married, and just flirting,” I don’t feel at all weirded out or threatened by him. He’s fun.

And I had to get you all a picture of my matching bruises. I think the one on my upper leg is going to be even more glorious.

If I get a third one today, I will die. That’d be three horrendous bruises in four days. Talent, that.

I’m very wary of my car door now.

So since I had time, and since I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, I thought I would do a little “what’s in my purse” log. Especially since I have a new purse, and a new promotion, and my job means that I now carry more interesting things in my purse. It used to be that I’d just have my wallet, keys, card holder, and phone. The end. Now? Let’s see.

What do we have here?

Accessories I threw in there because they were too warm (the scarf), too annoying(the ring), or too… um… heart-shaped? (the earrings) at work.

As you can see, I’m not obsessive about owls at ALL.

And if you’re not sure what a dual-mirror is, it’s got a normal mirror on one side and a magnified mirror on the other. And also, ignore the fact that my phone looks like it’s been mauled by a panther. I dropped it and ran over it with the dolly at work. While hauling milk from the stock room.

These are important things. Food, painkillers, and a napkin. Because I’m always hungry, I beat myself with the car door, and I make a lot of messes.

So there you have it! All the items that are currently in my purse. There’s room for more– I think at one point in the last three days I had a pair of flats in there, and I also had a package of everything bagels in there, and y’know… stuff. I cleaned it out last night, though, so there are no more random pieces of garbage. Just useful things.

And now that I’ve shown you what’s in my purse, what’s in yours?

I’ve got to run, my dears! I’m off to the dollar store for a few little things, the hardware store to have an extra key made for the new girl, and work to talk to someone who knows what the heck I’m supposed to be doing as manager.

Because I have no idea. πŸ˜€

Have a beautiful day!

Details: Shirt ($2.50), skirt ($5.99), cardigan (not shown, $6)and belt ($1.99), thrifted; scarf and brooch, gift; shoes, Target (old); bruises, priceless. Approximate outfit cost: $16.48

Congrats on the promotion. That’s awesome. Cute owl collection, and I like the tin of bobby pins.

How is the guest post going? I’m really swamped with work at the moment, so blogging is getting really hard. If you could do it soon, that would be really appretiated. Thanks.

      Thanks!

To be honest, I haven’t even started it. But I can work on it and email it to you asap so you can use it whenever you like. I’m sort of a more “in the moment” blogger. πŸ˜€ Chances are I’ll write it all in one go.

Hiii!!!! I love this mega post! πŸ˜€ The outfit is gorgeous. The skirt is adooorbs <3 And the shirt is awesome, just like the other one with the pocket hahah! I agree, maybe heels would be better, but still…flats are SO much more comfortable and cute πŸ™‚ All these outfits have indeed this 'you' feeling! I love this!
Aaaaah, you have NO idea how much I adore the 'what's in my bag' posts! I don't know why, probably because of my curiosity lol, but I like it so much! SO much! NO, you're not an owl addict, no way hahahaha! I love everything (bag included!). In my bag there are many many things these last days, including books, cardigans, wallet, cell, sunnies and glasses and so many things. Thank God I love big bags hhahaa!
I almost 'ouch'ed when I saw your bruises! I thought I was the only one who had the talent to hurt myself this way, but you are worse lol! I hope they're not too painful and that your leg will be in its former condition soon! πŸ˜€

The funniest thing about this was “bruises – priceless”! πŸ˜€ (The second funniest thing was your tags at the top!)

What’s in my bag? Lipgloss, cash (when I have any πŸ˜‰ ), phone, and a tissue when I remember because I always start sneezing at awkward moments. How boring!
Your owls are so cute and unique! I saw an owl ring in a shop the other day and was immediately thinking of you! Wow, I write long comments… πŸ˜‰
