Mixing Up the Holidays
I am only just getting around to sharing this outfit because 1. I am a very late person, 2. I made this skirt for Skye but liked it so much I had to wear it before I sent it to her, and 3. What Would a Hobbit Wear?
It’s finally Hobbit day! Today is kind of feeling bittersweet for me; I am so excited to go see The Battle of Five Armies, but I really, really don’t want Middle Earth to end. And it hit me the other day that this is probably the very last Tolkien movie to come out. At least, for a long, long time. My husband has said that the Tolkien estates won’t sell the rights to any of his other works, so… as far as we know, this is it. And I’m sad. Lazy Mode
Mondays are for no makeup, running errands, cozy sweaters, and Christmassy scarves. Asa is teething so hard his gums at one impending tooth are actually black and blue! Poor little guy. But he’s happy enough, and he’s ready for a nap, so this post will be short! I’m not usually one for wearing a chunky, loose sweater over a dress, but this sweater was way too cute to pass up, especially when paired with this equally gorgeous scarf! Dressember is Here!
It’s December! I cannot believe we are here already, but I am so excited to participate in another Dressember. If you weren’t around last year and are wondering, Dressember is a fashion challenge for charity: women (and men, I suppose) wear a dress every day of the month in December to raise money towards freeing enslaved and abused women all over the world. 100% of the donated funds go directly to the International Justice Mission, an organization that helps abolish slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of oppression. Let It Snow…
Oh my goodness, you guys!!! SNOW. (Okay, so that’s obvious.) I know in some parts of the world people get snow all the time and therefore hate it, but in my part of the world… winter = rain, or clouds, or just misery. Rarely snow. I think last year we got a smattering of snow maybe once, and it wasn’t even pretty snow. It was slushy, gross snow. So to wake up this morning to a winter wonderland… I was pretty excited.
