    Not Your Grandma’s Dress

Guys, it happened. I have finally broken down and decided to keep one of the dresses from my shop, and it’s all Gee’s fault. You see, I have had this dress for ages, and I rarely wear it. But the fabric feels so nice, and the pattern and colors are gorgeous so I hung onto it for EVER  until I finally decided… I never wore it, I’d put it in the shop. But then today, as I was trying to decide what to wear, Gee posted a picture on Instagram wearing THIS DRESS. So I put mine on to show her we had the same vintage dress, and fell in…

    Pink Hawaiian

So I have been borrowing from my shop closet recently because… well, it’s all pretty stuff, to be honest, and I might be getting a little bored with my regular closet. There’s a real danger in doing this, though, because everything I wear from the shop I end up wanting to keep! This dress, for instance, is the perfect color of pink on me. And it’s got flowers on it which we should all know I love (65% of my dresses are florals. Seriously.), and it’s vintage, and it’s got a twirly skirt. The Eighties Called…

You guys (er… girls…) I have a problem. See, I bought this dress to sell. But then I took it home, styled it with these tights and this belt and these shoes, and fell in love. And I never, ever thought I would admit falling…

    The nineties called…

I saw this dress at Sarah With a Bow‘s etsy shop, Bridgetown Vintage, and I had to have it. I plan to shorten it to just below the knee, partly because that’s more my style– I want to be able to remix it in the fall and winter with tights (I cannot wait!)– and partly because, as I predicted before I even tried it on, I knew Mr. Owl would not be fond of the length. Unexpectedly, though, he didn’t give me his usual “What do you think it is, 1850?” line. I was disappointed. I like that line. It makes me laugh every time. Instead, though, he looked at me,…

30 Days of Dresses: It doesn’t get any girlier than this.

I don’t think I have worn this much pink… ever. Since I was a kid. Pink has never been amongst my favorite colors, possibly because it’s hard to find a good pink for my skin tone, and possibly because I’ve always been the one who wanted to be different. If girls were supposed to love blue, I’d probably decide my favorite color was yellow. …yellow is a good color. But that wasn’t the point. I do love the pink of this dress. And also the bow-print. I may have to do some dress-surgery, though, because the original bodice is not flattering. I tied up the sleeves, so you can’t see how…
