    Holiday Sparkle

These heels are probably the closest I will ever get to owning a nude shoe. And as you can see, they’re not even nude. They’re gold and sparkly and deliciously glamorous and guys, I found them at the thrift store for $12. I can’t even express how excited I was. I don’t normally buy anything over about $7 if it’s not on a tag sale, and these heels were not on a tag sale, but when you come across unworn sparkly gold heels, you don’t leave them behind.     I haven’t really felt like taking outfit pictures lately, due to having some very not fun stuff come up in the…

Dear Nan Goldin: is it really you?

Having been blogging for a very long time, and actually long before I started fashion blogging, I’m used to weird emails. I’ve gotten requests to wear plaid shirts for a man’s private collection of women wearing plaid shirts, I’ve gotten requests from a man who wanted me to send him all of my old dirty worn out shoes, I’ve gotten requests to post more tights outfits, and a lot of offers to help me improve my blog in every way you can imagine. And once, a picture of me (fully clothed) pregnant was posted to a very specific and kind of nasty site, but it was taken down after it…

    New Year’s Day

The first day of a new year is such a strange and wonderful thing. It feels almost like any other day, but you know that it has begun an entire new set of events that have yet to happen. You look forward with anticipation, hope, resolve, and perhaps even a little bit of fear, yet you also look back with memory, fondness, sadness, and bittersweet longing for things that will never be again. You feel as though you should do something to begin the year with a head start, but on such a day as this, when there are so many resolutions made and so many things to move…

    What Would a Hobbit Wear?

It’s finally Hobbit day! Today is kind of feeling bittersweet for me; I am so excited to go see The Battle of Five Armies, but I really, really don’t want Middle Earth to end. And it hit me the other day that this is probably the very last Tolkien movie to come out. At least, for a long, long time. My husband has said that the Tolkien estates won’t sell the rights to any of his other works, so… as far as we know, this is it. And I’m sad. But, you know, I would be happier if someone decided to make a trilogy (or… double trilogy) of Gormenghast.…

    Cheshire Garden

Today, my brain has gone blank. I feel that sort of cloud-induced grogginess that one feels when the weather is overcast, the house is very warm, there’s been a good amount of food, and everything is quiet. Asa and I just got back from a baby play place with one of my friends and her baby, and the activities has worn both of us out! That, and the fact that he got his very first fat lip this morning while standing up to the coffee table in order to get food. Only his foot slipped on a toy, and instead of a good mouthful of banana, he got a bite…
