Mr. Owl says I look like a hippie in this dress. A cute hippie, but still a hippie. I told him he’d just have to deal with it because I like this dress and it reminds me of something a Bennet might wear.

Speaking of Mr. Owl, we went to a used ย bookstore yesterday and he found me the best books ever: The Hobbit, and The Fellowship of the Ring. Not only are they the best because, y’know, Lord of the Rings, but also because they match the Two Towersย and Return of the Kingย copies I found at a thrift store and hadn’t been able to match. I’m exceedingly, nerdily excited that I now have all four books, their cover art matches, and they’re all in lovely condition. Plus, they were all cheap.

Now I need to re-read them.

Random fact about us: we are very, very ย good at Donkey Kong on the Wii. Anyone who dares to challenge us, watch it. We’re pro’s.

So pro, we’ve started to automatically collect bananas and coins… in real life.

I think we’ve possibly played too much of that game.

But if we’re not playing Donkey Kong on the Wii, we’re playing Mario on my Nintendo ’64. Because we’re cool like that.

Yes. We are both very nerdy. It’s a secret. Shh. Don’t tell.

I don’t know why, but I gravitate towards the pictures where I’m making a weird face.

And speaking of my face, I went to Sephora the other day to look for a good foundation, and the girl there recommended Makeup Forever’s HD Foundation… and gave me samples. So far, I’m not sure I like it. It still flakes oddly on my skin, and I think it’s a little bit too dry for me. Which is why it flakes oddly.

That, and the foundation is $40. I cannot justify spending $40 on a foundation unless it works miracles. And makes me dinner. And cleans my floors.

Besides, I’m just going to wipe it off at the end of the day.

I think I’ll just go back to my Boots foundation.

I have to confess, though, I did splurge on an eyebrow powder because I have a really hard time matching powder to my brows, and it looks very natural. Whether I’ll get it again depends on whether I have a job by the time I need more, and whether I can find a cheaper alternative or not.

In other news, this ring reminds me of elves. And no, not the Christmas variety. The Tolkein ones.

And these shoes… remind me of picnic baskets. I’m suddenly hungry.

I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!

That is SUCH a pretty dress. And yes, you do look a lot like a character right out a Jane Austen book ๐Ÿ˜‰
Mr. Owl is wrong this time, you look. . warm. Definitely not hippie material, I am sure of that.

Isn’t it? And to think, I almost didn’t try it on. But as soon as I did, I didn’t want to take it off. I might use it for some kind of Austen-esque photoshoot once my hair gets longer.

๐Ÿ˜‰ I don’t mind being called a hippie. With certain styling, it does get hippie-ish. ๐Ÿ˜€ But thank you!

Hi! This is sooo cuute! Indeed you look like a Jane Austen character, but on the more modern side I adore the dress and unexpectedly it looks good with the striped jacket ๐Ÿ™‚ You look amazing!
Mario? HELL YEAH! It’s just too addictive! You and mr. Owl are amazing together -this comment wouldn’t look good if I didn’t say it once again ๐Ÿ˜›

Hi, you! Thank you! I’ve always liked pairing stripes with stripes. Or any same-pattern things. It’s fun. ๐Ÿ˜€
<3 Mario is WAY addictive, hehe.

I get like that over my books too! My Lord of the Rings is the 50th anniversary edition, which means they tried to replicate the Red Book with it. So obviously it’s red and only one tome-like book, and then the editors went and stuffed all the appendixes at the back, and a huge introduction at the front. My Hobbit doesn’t match it unfortunately, but its cover art is the original drawn by Tolkien, which makes me happy. ๐Ÿ˜€
If I buy books new, I tend to insist on certain editions, mostly because of the covers! ๐Ÿ˜‰

That sounds amazing! My family makes fun of me sometimes for how much I love pretty books. And matching books. And old books. I sort of tend to buy books for the pretty covers. Oh, there are a bunch of new editions of old classics (Alice in Wonderland, Grimm’s Fairytales, the complete Edgar Allen Poe, etc.) at Barnes & Nobile, and they’re all leather-bound and gold-embossed, and I want them. Sigh. So pretty.

Really cute! However, I was brought here because I’m curious as to when you’re going to update your stories.

I have to say I think you should cut the bottom of the dress off then it would be just perfect. I tried Fit foundation the other day and I think I like it. Trying to get the right foundation is such a pain. I keep getting the wrong color. The ones that are supposed to be my color are always too light.

    • Mara

It would be cute as a shorter dress, too. I kind of like the length, though. And the bottom actually appeals to me more in person than it does in these pictures or on the hanger. Usually I’m not a fan of those sorts of dresses. ๐Ÿ™‚
I hate matching foundation to my skin! It’s the worst. Good luck finding the right color! Sometimes you’re able to return foundations, depending on where you got it.
