Valentine’s Day Lookbook: Bombshell

7

This look is one of the two I’m considering for Valentine’s Day– the husband and I are going to go out for dinner (without Baby Owl, oh my!) and I’m torn between this dress, which is just total modern bombshell, or the dress Mr. Owl gave me for Valentine’s Day last year that I didn’t get to wear for Valentine’s Day because apparently it ran big and a medium was way too big on me.

You’ll see it next.

But I couldn’t do a series of Valentine’s Day looks without going full-on red, hearts, and romance. It’s just impossible for me to skip a completely romantic look.

I will probably go sans-lipstick, though. A certain someone that I am married to does not like lipstick because I tend to “accidentally” (on purpose) give him kiss marks on one cheek that he forgets about only to realize he’s wandered around somewhere with lipstick on his face. I figure so long as he’s walking around with the woman who gave him the kiss marks, people will totally understand, but no. He won’t have it. Probably something to do with manliness and all that. Haha!

Side note: these are the moments when I wish that my humor and facetiousness came out as well in writing as they do in my head.

Today has been a really good day, motherhood wise. I got up earlier than usual — which means I got up at 10ish instead of after 11am, and actually cooked myself a healthy breakfast of eggs with asparagus, tomatoes, and ham thrown in! I felt so accomplished. And then my mom came over and we gave Asa his very first bath. He loves to be groomed, I think, because he’s always very calm during sponge baths and fingernail clipping, and he was pretty happy to just sit in the bathing chair and be washed.

So now, thankfully, all of his stinky little creases are cleaned out (let me tell you, babies are cute, but when they have so much chubby creases for stuff to hide in, they can get smelly fast!), and he’s napping next to me on the couch. It’s been a peaceful day.

I love how this color brings out just how pale I am. I am not one of those people who has to be tan all the time — any natural color from the sun is fine with me, but I’m not going to sit there just for the sake of tanning — and I didn’t realize just how white I had gotten until I looked at these pictures!

I mean:

I had to bring down the brightness of this picture because I was literally glowing in the original. And I was not even in direct sunlight. That’s how pale I am right now. It’s kind of fun! I really want to do a legitimate Snow White photoshoot, with an actual princess costume and everything! Now would be the perfect time!

I also really, really need another pair of these tights. I wore them for my wedding, and they have so many runs in them now I probably can no longer get away with wearing them in public. It makes me sad, because I adore them! But Modcloth no longer sells them, so I’ll have to find some similar ones.

Happy Wednesday!

I love being super pale. It’s way more unique than being tan all the time. I generally stay out of the sun to avoid skin cancer and aging. Good enough reasons to be pale, I think! I think your paleness looks great with your dark hair and that pretty red dress. This is a wonderful outfit for a Valentine’s Day outing. Especially with your heart print tights. I always love those. They’re so cute!

Such a babe! I can’t believe you just had a baby like, two weeks ago! I have that pale person problem, too. I wear blush just so I don’t look all deadsies.

I’m excited to see the dress Mr Owl gave you last year. I’m also loving having you back in the blogosphere!
