30 Day Challenges

Instagram Outfits

Day One

After taking an inventory of my closet (yes, I do that…) I realized that of the 35 (plus… cuz I bought more like… I shouldn’t have…) skirts in my closet, I wear… oh, probably about ten of them in rotation. Given, some of them are not year-round skirts (wool, or very light summery fabric), but for the most part probably 75% of my skirts are skirts I should be able to wear right now. So I decided to do a 30-days-of challenge that I may actually finish!

Day Two, Three, FourSkirts are to me what jeans are to most people– comfortable, easy to style, flexible, appropriate for most occasions. I’ve had a few people ask if I really dress like this every day. And yes, I do. Of course, when I get home at night I do sometimes change into my comfiest elastic exercise pants, but for the most part I’d much rather be wearing a skirt than a dress.

Day FiveI’m pretty optimistic that I’ll get through 30 days with this challenge. I have previously failed the 30-for-30 and the 30-days-of-dresses challenge, probably because neither of them have really been in my niche. I don’t have a cohesive-enough of a wardrobe to have 30 items that mix well together, and though I love wearing dresses I’m still at a loss as to how to style them. Skirts, however… I can do that.

Day Seven

On the day I wore the above outfit, I tried victory rolls for the first time (they worked pretty well!), and Mr. Owl and I went to our favorite artistic haunt, where we get to paint pottery and drink coffee. As I was sitting down, a man came up and asked if I dressed like this for an event (aka historical reenactment) or what, and thought it was so cool that I did this just because I wanted to.

Day Six

I’ve been having a lot of fun mixing in scarves and brooches and generally trying to wear more jewelry (something I have a lot of and rarely wear.) I’ve decided that of all the pretty shiny things I could wear, brooches just might be my favorite.

Day Eight

Also, of all my shoes, these red ones are definitely my favorite.

Day Nine

I’ll be selling quite a few of the skirts I’ve worn, if I can convince myself to let them go. Mostly because they’re a little bit loose around the waist (or a little bit tight) and I really don’t need upwards of 40 skirts in my closet. It’s going to be hard, though.

Day Ten

So that’s all that’s been going on with my outfits. Soon I’m off to my mom’s to borrow her computer power cord (since mine broke… again…) and her internet (because we have none) and schedule one or two real blog posts with actual non-instagrammed pictures.

It’s exciting. I haven’t blogged actual outfit pictures in so long!

Until then, can I have this hair every day? Kthanks.

I would love to join you in this! But… here the weather is in the single digits with a windchill in the negatives, so I think I’ll pass this time! : /

Yeah, cold weather DOES make it hard to wear skirts! I don’t blame you. Although I tend to be just as warm in 2 layers of tights and the usual skirt outfit as I am in jeans… but I don’t live in single digit weather… Maybe in the summer you can!

I’d love to join you in a 30 day skirt challenge, but for a start I don’t have near enough skirts plus every Thursday is a Shorts Thursday for me 🙂 I particularly like the last outfit photo set – the dark red is so pretty 🙂

Love the blue skirt with the owl wellies 🙂 The blue dotted tights too, where are they from?
I really enjoy reading your blog and wish you all the best!

I love, love, love that you are instagramming outfits these days. It’s so good to see you looking so gorgeous, Kristi! I can’t believe how long we’ve been friends for. It’s beyond amazing. You’re beautiful, and I love you.

I love all of these looks! They were put together so beautifully. I also love all the brooches you’ve been wearing. I have a bunch that belonged to my grandmother (among lots of other jewelry) that I really need to start incorporating. I wear jewelry all the time, but I have so much that I haven’t worn yet. I end up doing like what you do with your skirts, and wear the same pieces over and over, ignoring the rest.
