1940s Novelty Print and Plus Size Vintage Women

Recently, my friend the lovely Laci Fay visited a hoarder house. Someone who frequents the theater where she works told her that their daughter had purchased this house, and it was full of vintage Laci might like. The daughter was happy to have Laci come and take what she wanted, before they threw it all away. The house originally belonged to three sisters. One on the main level, one upstairs, and one downstairs. Plus, an entire storage unit because one of the sisters had too much. When Laci arrived, she found out that the new owners of the house had already hosted an estate sale, and didn’t put out any…

    That 70’s Feeling

You might have noticed that lately I’ve been really feeling the 70’s. So when Karina Dresses reached out to have me shoot some photos of the Megan Jelly Bean Dress for their fall 2020 collection, my brain went straight to… well, making it 70’s retro! I think this print is pretty timeless; it can read modern or vintage depending on the styling. It’s no secret that I really love Karina Dresses. In that haul was this cardigan. And as soon as I opened it, I knew it would be the PERFECT match for my Emily and Fin rainbow plaid skirt. I’ve actually already worn this outfit twice in the week that I’ve had the cardigan. I love it that much! And, it was nice…

Recreating Vintage Outfits on a Vintage Plus Size Body

This past weekend I decided to try recreating some vintage outfits I have had pinned to my Pinterest board for a few years now. This one, with the sweater and plaid skirt, was definitely my favorite. I have an affinity for plaid, and it just reminds me of everything fall and bookish. I will definitely be recreating this outfit in many different iterations. I have an entire bin full of plaid skirts so it may just become my fall uniform! Be sure to watch the video if you want to see all five outfits!

    1970’s Disco Disney Princess

Yesterday, I told myself I was going to have a chill day. I wasn’t going to put on makeup, I wasn’t going to do my hair, I wasn’t going to wear anything but yoga pants. Just relax, hang out, and maybe get some housework done for once. But my brain had other ideas. My brain said “yes but you have THAT dress and THIS wig, and you need to be a 1970’s Disney Disco Princess.” So here we are. Would I wear this outfit practically? No. Mainly because I’m breastfeeding and I don’t think I can wear this and breastfeed. But sometimes, it’s fun to just dress up and play.…
