From My Closet

I went shopping today; I needed to spend the $50 dollar Target gift card someone gave me for my birthday, and after watching What Not To Wear and browsing a few fashion blogs, I decided to up and go see if Target had any good shirts or accessories. I bought two dresses on my birthday, so I sort of banned myself from buying more. I have enough dresses.

And… since I very much adore the things I bought- this shirt in particular- I thought I’d do a little fashion post. I’ve always wanted to do a daily or every-other-day fashion post, but… I don’t exactly love pictures of myself right now. Maybe after I’ve started jogging. (But on the plus side, I’ve lost half an inch around my hips and waist! Because… I can’t really eat right now…) Summer fashion is coming up!

The first outfit is inspired by What I Wore’s idea for Breton Stripes Tuesday. I know, I know, it’s Wednesday. But I just read her post today. So there.

I’m not super fond of shorts,  but that’s mostly because these ones don’t fit quite right- like most shorts-, and I need to start jogging and toning my legs. Also, I’m very pale. So excuse the blinding reflection coming off of my thighs. I can’t help it.

(I know I look kind of wonky here. I was holding the jean jacket over my shoulder, and the camera snapped before I was ready. Also, there were bees. So I was about ready to run away screaming. 😉 Oh, and those funny shadows on the sides of my chin? Bruising from having my teeth pulled. No, my chin isn’t really that huge. It’s just a trick of the bruising that I’m too lazy to cover with foundation.)

I adore this necklace. It is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry- I have a thing for birds in jewelry- and I’ve been wearing it over and over and over. I love that it has the slightly worn, old-metal look, and the design is so cute and quirky. Plus, I think I got it for… three dollars? So y’know. Love.

This second way to wear the shirt, I didn’t think would work- I bought the skirt on a whim a few years ago, and it doesn’t go with much. I think the bold green just overpowers everything else, or makes it look a little too flashy. But I love it with this shirt! Although it looks better in real life than it does in the picture.

I love this necklace. It has just enough green to pull in with the skirt… but enough blue that it’ll go with pretty much anything. Turquoise jewelry is pretty versatile.

And lastly… the shoes. I adore them.

I should have painted my toenails BEFORE I took this picture, not after… but um… too lazy to retake it.  Back to the shoes! I’ve been wanting some nude/tan heels for a while, and although I’m not usually a huge fan of wedges- or straps- I love these. They’re on the gray side, which I generally prefer so that they don’t match my skin entirely, and they feel very… French. To me. (Hey, I’m like… 1/16th French! So… yeah. Woohoo!)

I can wear them with shorts, skirts, jeans, dresses, and any color of the rainbow since they’re neutral. SO glad I decided to get them, because I wasn’t too sure at first. But they are now the most versatile shoes in my closet, and the only pair of heels I have that work as a casual shoe. I love them! Did I say that? Because I do. Very much.

Then again, I just love shoes in general, and I have over ten pairs of heels to prove that. Plus flats. And tennis shoes that I should use more often.

Ahem.
